Jack and the Beanstalk

Prepare to embark on an enchanting journey with this year’s GIANT pantomime… Jack and the Beanstalk!

Following the tremendous success of the smash hit Beauty and the Beast, we’re thrilled to present a LARGER-THAN-LIFE adventure!

Our Panto cast this festive season will include Jennie Dale (CBeebies and Swashbuckle star) as Fairy Fuchsia, John Altman (EastEnders legend) as King Custard and Matt Lapinskas (Dancing On Ice and EastEnders star) as Fleshcreep. Back by popular demand – Michael Neilson returns to Torquay as Dame Trott, Isabel Canning (Sister Act UK tour) as Jack, Lotti Brogan as Jill and Matthew Curnier as Billy.

FULL OF MAGIC BEANS!

We catch up with CBeebies star Jennie Dale who is starring as Fairy Fuchsia in this year’s pantomime Jack and the Beanstalk.

What excites you most about playing your character in Jack and the Beanstalk?

Playing a fairy is always fun! I think everyone wants to be a part of a story and its ‘happily ever after’, so to be able to guide the audience on that journey is pretty special!

What are you most looking forward to about spending Christmas by the sea in Torquay?

That view! Walking to and from the theatre is going to be very special and I’ve heard that the theatre is well and truly Christmassified – I can’t wait to see it all lit up!

What’s your favourite interval treat?

Now that’s a question!! I’m a huge crisp fan! All types and flavours! But Frazzles are high up on the list! There’ll also be a bag of easy peeler oranges in my dressing room and probably some mini Celebrations!

What makes your perfect Christmas?

Seeing the audience get excited for Christmas and joining in with the fun and hopefully meeting some of the children that might watch me on telly – I love being able to say hello. As I’m away over Christmas, I’ll celebrate with my friends in January. We go to a well-known group of woodland lodges and we’ll decorate our lodge with a tree, lights, presents, the full works! We have Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day with turkey and all the trimmings! People look into our lodge very confused! It’s perfect for me.

Do you have any memorable moments where the audience has really surprised or amused you during a performance? One year there was a scene where the cast had water pistols. I looked into the audience to see a whole family in rain

macs and shower caps! Word had obviously got around, and they came prepared!

You’ve had a fantastic career in television and theatre. How does performing in a panto compare to your other acting roles?

Panto is constant high energy, with quite a lot of shows, so I’d say it’s quite hard compared to other forms of performing, but I wouldn’t change it for the world!

Finally, what do you hope audiences take away from this year’s production in Torquay? Some Christmas joy and magic!
