Ghosts, suspense, and real-life couple chemistry collide in 2:22 – A Ghost Story, starring Stacey Dooley and Kevin Clifton.
Seven years after winning the coveted Glitterball Trophy on Strictly Come Dancing, Stacey Dooley and husband Kevin Clifton are stepping into a new kind of spotlight. They’re about to be the first real-life couple to play haunted husband and wife in the critically-acclaimed thriller 2:22 – A Ghost Story
Stacey starred in the smash hit thriller in 2024 and will reprise the role of Jenny, a young mother convinced the home she is renovating is haunted. Dancer and musical theatre star Kevin will make his straight acting debut as Jenny’s rationally minded husband Sam, who refuses to believe in ghosts. Their clash – and the couple’s late-night attempt to uncover the truth – drives the spine-tingling plot of Danny Robins’ play.
When the play premiered in 2021, it became one of Kevin’s favourites, ‘I’m trying to play it cool,’ he grins, ‘but I’m really excited about this moment. I’m a huge fan of 2:22’.
The couple are parents to two-year-old Minnie, and they’ll be taking her on the road with them when they embark on the tour from early August until late November 2025. Stacey admits, ‘Of course, travelling the country with a twoyear-old will bring its own stresses, but it’s great that we can all be together as a family.’
She believes being a mum helps her relate to Jenny who is a character she says many will recognise. ‘She’s a mum trying to find her feet again,’ she explains. ‘I see bits of myself in her.’ Kevin adds that Sam’s sceptical streak is just as familiar. ‘We all know someone like Sam – a bit of a know-it-all who thinks he’s got everything figured out.’
The couple admit working together again brings a fresh dynamic. ‘On Strictly, Kev was the expert,’ Stacey reflects. ‘This time I’ve done the play before, and it’s Kev’s first non-musical – so it’s a bit of a role reversal.’
They’re also enjoying the chance to share the stage in a whole new way. ‘It’s funny playing characters with such a different dynamic from us,’ Stacey says. ‘Jenny and Sam are head-butting a lot – we’re much more chilled in real life.’
Directed by Gabriel Vega Weissman, this new touring production offers a fresh take for both actors. ‘It’s a different director, a different cast – so it’ll feel new to me too.’ says Stacey. While Kevin Clifton may be the newcomer to non-musical drama, he’s eager to learn: ‘I’m going to have to listen to her advice – but you should always be open when working with colleagues, especially someone you trust.’
Following seven West End seasons, a record-breaking UK & Ireland tour and 30 productions across the globe, the stage phenomenon 2:22 A Ghost Story now returns to Sunderland.
Winner of Best New Play at the WhatsOnStage Awards, Kevin Clifton (Strictly Come Dancing, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, Chicago) and Stacey Dooley (TV presenter and Strictly Come Dancing winner) star as fictional couple Sam and Jenny in this edge-of-your-seat supernatural thriller. Dooley reprises her role from her stage debut in the 2024 West End production, with Clifton joining her in venues across the country throughout 2025. They’re joined by Grant Kilburn (2:22 A Ghost Story) as Ben and Shvorne Marks (Three Little Birds, Get Millie Black) as Lauren.
Written by Danny Robins, creator of the hit BBC podcasts Uncanny and The Battersea Poltergeist, 2:22 A Ghost Story comes fresh from record-breaking seasons at five West End theatres with a host of acclaimed star performances. It’s a brilliantly funny and adrenaline-filled night where secrets emerge and ghosts may or may not appear… what do you believe? And do you dare discover the truth? Ages 12+
Welcome to a world of intrigue, as we invite you to step Inside No. 9 for a theatrical experience like no other.
Expect the unexpected as the acclaimed BBC TV series comes to life on-stage, fresh from a sell out West End run, weaving its signature web of twisted tales and black humour, combining comedy and horror with a dramatic script that will leave you guessing until the very end.
Familiar characters and stories mix with brand new material by the genius of creators Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith, who will also perform in the production.

Sunny
Afternoon returns to UK stages,
bringing to life the music, the drama, and the legacy of The Kinks’ incredible rise to fame.
Get ready to turn up the volume – Sunny Afternoon, the Olivier Award-winning musical celebrating the music and story of The Kinks, is hitting the road again for a brand new UK tour in 2025/26. Developed over four years by The Kinks co-founder Ray Davies CBE, Australian playwright Joe Penhall, and acclaimed West End producer Sonia Friedman, the show first burst onto the stage at Hampstead Theatre in 2014 before transferring to the Harold Pinter Theatre in London’s West End. It didn’t just play to packed houses – it captured hearts, selling over 430,000 tickets during its two-year West End run.
Based on the electrifying rise of The Kinks, one of the most iconic rock bands to emerge from Britain during the late 20th century, Sunny Afternoon is set against the backdrop of Britain on the cusp of the rebellious 60s.
This exhilarating production brings to life The Kinks’ journey through success, sibling rivalry, and the sound that defined a generation –
and still inspires today. With a soundtrack of legendary hits like You Really Got Me, Lola, and All Day and All of the Night, audiences are treated to a story packed with raw energy, humour, heartbreak, and music that never ceases to resonate through every generation.
Following its West End triumph, Sunny Afternoon toured the UK and Ireland in 2016 and 2017, playing in 34 cities, and entertaining over 300,000 fans. The production scooped four Olivier Awards, including Best New Musical and Outstanding Achievement in Music for Ray Davies – a testament to the power of The Kinks’ music and the authenticity of their story.
And now, it’s back! This highly anticipated revival comes courtesy of Sonia Friedman Productions and ATG Productions. Davies himself expressed his excitement, noting, ‘In these times of political uncertainties, it is a relief to know that Sunny Afternoon is on the horizon to lift our spirits.’
The production is directed by Edward Hall and boasts a creative team including designer Miriam Buether, with choreography by Adam Cooper, lighting design by Rick Fisher and sound design by Matt McKenzie. Musical and vocal adaptations are by Ray Davies and Elliott Ware based on original Kinks’ recordings. Sunny Afternoon remains a shining example of what happens when world-class storytelling meets legendary music.
As producer Sonia Friedman puts it, ‘I’m thrilled that we’re bringing back our joyous, celebratory, Olivier Award-winning Best New Musical for a new UK tour. Ray Davies’ music and lyrics capture the poetry and poignancy of everyday life with honesty and wit. I can’t wait for audiences across the UK to see it –
I’ve truly missed it.’
