A major part of the Trust’s role is to underpin the work that goes on behind the scenes at the Empire through the theatre’s renowned Creative Learning Department.
Thousands of pounds are provided each year by the Trust to fund various Creative Learning programmes. Figures for the last financial year show 24,000 people across the Liverpool City Region participated in projects run by Senior Creative Learning Manager, Natalie Flynn and her team. The department put on more than 600 sessions at schools and in other areas. It produced more than 50 shows, pulling in audiences of 58,000 people. The programmes worked with 174 schools and employed 162 people through freelance or casual contracts. And the department continues to build, with three new staff recently recruited to bring it back up to pre-pandemic staffing levels.
Trust Chairman, David Morgan said: ‘The figures speak for themselves. We are proud of the work Natalie Flynn and her team carry out at the Empire and in our communities, helping so many young people engage with the theatre, the arts and providing educational support to schools and other organisations.’
