Welcome to the EDINBURGH PLAYHOUSE
It’s been all-go for the Edinburgh Playhouse this year and I am delighted to give you an insight into everything we’ve been up to and what’s to come.
In summer, we launched our brand new bar, Little Picardy, offering our local community and theatregoers alike, a sophisticated and unique haven to enjoy right next to the theatre.
The calibre of shows you’ll find in this brochure is second to none. Earlier this year, we had the honour of announcing our theatre as the opening venue on the Moulin Rouge! The Musical world tour. We also welcome some beloved stars to our theatre soon: Donny Osmond in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Jason Donovan in The Rocky Horror Show and Johannes Radebe in Kinky Boots The Musical. The Edinburgh Playhouse is certainly an exciting place to be over the coming months.
We’re rounding off a wonderful year of fundraising with our charity partners SAMH, Simba and Vintage Vibes who we have been honoured to support over the last 12 months. There’s been an abseil, the marathon festival, post-show bucket collections and even an inflatable 5k! Thank you for your continued support and please keep an eye on our social media channels for our new charity partners for 2024/25, who we will be announcing soon.
I hope you enjoy exploring the brochure to discover the next moments of wonder you can have at the Edinburgh Playhouse. We look forward to welcoming you to our theatre and to Little Picardy very soon.

Blood Brothers
Written by Willy Russell, Blood Brothers
tells the captivating tale of twins who, separated at birth, grow up on opposite sides of the tracks, only to meet again with fateful consequences.

Few musicals have received quite such acclaim as the multi award-winning Blood Brothers. Bill Kenwright’s production ran for more than 10,000 performances in London’s West End, one of only three musicals ever to achieve that milestone. It has been affectionately christened the ‘Standing Ovation Musical’, as inevitably it ‘Brings the audience cheering to its feet and roaring its approval.’ (Daily Mail).
The superb score includes Bright New Day, Marilyn Monroe and the emotionally charged hit Tell Me It’s Not True.

Acclaimed as ‘The funniest musical of all time.’ (Entertainment Weekly) and with sold-out productions across the globe, The Book of Mormon has become a worldwide sensation.

101 Dalmatians the Musical
The smash hit musical 101 Dalmatians is scampering to Edinburgh, starring Faye Tozer (Steps) as the greatest villain of them all, Cruella de Vil.
When fashionista Cruella de Vil plots to swipe all the Dalmatian puppies in town to create her fabulous new fur coat, there’s trouble ahead for Pongo and Perdi and their litter of adorable, tail-wagging young pups.
Dodie Smith’s classic canine caper is brought to life on-stage with spectacular puppetry, showstopping choreography, witty songs and irresistible puppies!
This new musical is written by Douglas Hodge (music and lyrics) and Johnny McKnight (book), from a stage adaptation by Zinnie Harris.

‘You mess around with 101 Dalmatians at your peril! We’ve left the story to be exactly what you’d expect, it’s a great and fun adventure that they go on but also has the most delicious villain in Cruella, who remains genuinely satanic and evil! There’s a whole darker element to it but a lot of fun along the way too. It works on two levels with lots of elements for both children and adults to enjoy. The puppies are just delightful, and I defy anyone to come and watch it and not leave the theatre thinking, Shall we get another dog?’ – Douglas Hodge
