The musical, inspired by the animated film, based on the ancient myth. It’s what classical civilisation would have wanted.

Get ready for a wise-cracking, column-shaking, underworld-rocking ride of adventure, self-discovery and love. In tunics.

RICHARD II comes to the Bridge Theatre next year

Group Line Exclusive!

RICHARD II is charismatic, eloquent and flamboyantly witty. And a disastrous King – dishonest, dangerous and politically incompetent.

Echoing down the centuries is the perennial problem: how to deal with a ruler who has a rock solid right to rule but is set on wrecking the country he leads.

Shakespeare’s subtle, ambiguous and powerful play revolves round two startlingly modern figures: Richard, an autocrat who believes he is divinely sanctioned, and Henry Bolingbroke, a hard-headed pragmatist who has genuine authority.

Olivier-award winning Jonathan Bailey dons the crown as he takes on the title role in this new production directed by Nicholas Hytner, with set and costume by Bob Crowley

Jonathan Bailey’s past work includes Bridgerton, Fellow Travellers, Cassio in Nicholas Hytner’s National Theatre production of Othello and Edgar to Ian McKellen’s King Lear. He has also won an Olivier Award for his role of Jamie in Company and is Fiyero in the Wicked movie.

The Bridge Theatre is located in the heart of London, nestled at the foot of Tower Bridge, with exceptional views of the Thames. Within walking distance of the Tower of London, HMS Belfast and The Shard, The Bridge is the perfect addition to your day out.

To The Future The Musical

changes the course of history. Now he’s in a race against time to fix the present, escape the past and send himself... back to the future.

Powered by the genius of the original iconic story, and amazing audiences with cool-as-flux special effects, BACK TO THE FUTURE

THE MUSICAL features original music by multi-Grammy winners Alan Silvestri (Avengers: Endgame) and Glen Ballard (Michael Jackson’s Man in the Mirror) alongside all the classic songs from the movie including The Power of Love, Johnny B. Goode, Earth Angel and Back in Time

But don’t be late! Set your destination time to London’s Adelphi Theatre and book your tickets yesterday!

We interviewed Vasco Emauz who has recently made his West End debut playing Marty in BACK TO THE FUTURE THE MUSICAL. Read on to see what he had to say…

Please tell us how you secured the role?

When I first got the self-tape request from my agent, I was ecstatic. I’d seen the show in January of that same year, at the interval I turned to my friend and told her “I need to play that part one day”, so I fought hard for it. I sent the tape in and immediately re-watched the [BACK TO THE FUTURE] trilogy and practised each of Marty’s solos in hopes that I would get the call back. Once I did, I bought my flights, learnt the material and thankfully got the part. A true dream come true!

Your character is iconic in film history. How did you approach making it your own for the musical version?

Michael J Fox’s portrayal of Marty is legendary. Throughout rehearsals I had the privilege of working with our incredible creative team to create my version of Marty. I tried to embody the essence of Marty McFly and then react to each line and situation as it happens. So, I’d say I am making it my own by simply knowing who Marty is to me and living in the moment as if I were him.

What is your favourite scene or song to perform and why?

My favourite song to perform in the show is most definitely ‘’Put Your Mind to It’’. Apart from it being an absolute BANGER of a song, it’s such a heartwarming moment of camaraderie and love between Marty and George. Performing it nightly with Orlando Gibbs (George McFly) is a huge privilege.

How do you feel BACK TO THE FUTURE resonates with both long-time fans and those new to the story?

It’s amazing to see how audiences of all ages and backgrounds can connect to the story. Its truly a show for everyone. It’s so great to meet parents at stage door who grew up with the love of the movie bring their kids to the show to introduce them to this wonderful franchise.

Are there any fun or unexpected backstage stories or traditions the cast have developed?

I don’t spend that much time backstage so there might be some shenanigans that I am unaware of, but we do a circle on stage before every show which is truly amazing working with such a fun and kind cast and crew. Talia (Jennifer Parker) and I have also taken a page out of the Broadway casts book and started building a polaroid wall in my dressing room with pictures from each show.

If you could go back or forward in time, when would it be and why?

I think I would go back to the 25th April 1974 – the day the ‘Carnation Revolution’ in Portugal. On that day, the authoritarian Estado Novo regime was overthrown. I would love to be in the midst of the people of Lisbon celebrating their newfound freedom. If you look at any media footage from that day, the feeling of unity and joy is palpable. Truly electric.

Before the show, leaders enjoyed pre-show drinks, networking and an introduction to the show and then took their seats in the Stalls for the matinee performance.

The show was a huge hit with members with some clubs already planning to include MJ THE MUSICAL in their outings programme for 2025.

KENTARA clubs from across Kent regularly book with Group Line and it was fantastic to meet so many regular and new group leaders for an exclusive KENTARA preview.

If you are a group leader for a KENTARA club or another Retirement Organisation, we would be delighted to hear from you. We are already planning more Senior Group Leader Afternoons for 2025 and would be delighted to include you in our next Group Leaders Afternoon.

‘’A very enjoyable show ………and an amazing choreography.’’

‘’Our visit to the theatre was very well organised and a good opportunity to meet other like-minded people.’’

Star interview!

We recently interviewed Lauren Drew who plays Céline Dion in TITANIQUE. Read on to see what she had to say…

When you found out you’d be playing Céline Dion, did you break into a victory dance, or was it more like a power ballad moment?

It was most definitely a combination of both. I screamed the house down, then I cried. Then screamed again. Also said, “I can’t believe it” about 75,000 times.

How exactly did you prepare to channel the power of Céline Dion? Have you been practicing epic high notes, dramatic gestures, or just asking, “What would Céline do?’’

I always strive to channel Céline energy. She’s one of my biggest inspirations vocally and as a human. I’ve always admired how she is so unapologetically herself! She’s wacky and impulsive and I LOVE that about her. She’s so passionate and just filled with love and I’d like to think I am too! Before rehearsals, I’ve been listening to my Céline playlist, doing lots of mannerism and Céline pose work in the mirror and constantly talking in her accent. I want to do her justice so I’m working extra extra hard to get her right! I’m having a ball embodying this icon!

Is there a Céline song in the show that you’re most excited to sing?

Honestly, ALL OF THEM! The second I feel like I

have a favourite, it changes! They’re all bangers, it’s like trying to choose my favourite Friends character.

How are rehearsals going? Are things rolling as smoothly as a Céline power ballad?

Rehearsals have been everything I knew they would be, and more! The second I saw the cast list I knew this was going to be special. Everyday has been nothing but pure joy and I am in awe of the talent in the room. Not to mention, I haven’t stopped wheeze laughing since arriving Monday morning. Just pure delight! I can’t wait for everyone to join us on this fabulous and hilarious ship of dreams!

What kind of reaction are you hoping for from the audience? Gasps of awe? Spontaneous sing-alongs? Or just a standing ovation and maybe a tear or two?

I just want audiences to feel like they’ve had the most joyous escape from reality for 90 minutes and for them to allow themselves to be fully immersed in our crazy fever dream show! The audience are very much involved and I can guarantee if they’re looking to belly laugh and sing along to some of the biggest bangers of all time, they won’t be disappointed coming to see TITANIQUE

Now celebrating 18 incredible years in the West End, the blockbuster musical continues to ‘Defy Gravity’ live onstage at the Apollo Victoria Theatre

Seen by more than 12 million people, the London production of WICKED is already the 10th longest running West End show in British history.

The must-see stage musical phenomenon has already been performed in sixteen countries, winning more than 100 awards on its remarkable global journey. From Singapore and South Korea and the Netherlands to New Zealand, this international mega-hit has amassed audiences of 65 million people.

“An exquisitely bittersweet comedy of life’s missed opportunities”

– Jonathan Coe, on the novel Second Best

Asa Butterfield in his stage debut playing at Riverside Studios for 4 weeks only from 24 January

At ten years old, Martin Hill was on the brink of stardom, down to the final two contenders for the role of Harry Potter but narrowly missing out. Now an adult, Martin is about to embark on the ultimate adventure – fatherhood. As

he navigates this whirlwind of emotions, he is pulled back to that pivotal moment in his past as he struggled to move beyond imagining what his life might have been.

Second Best is a playful yet poignant new comedy about fate, near-misses and the winding paths life takes. It explores the ache of almost touching greatness and the humour and hope that come when dreams remain just out of reach. A story about the tender moments that shape us, Second Best is for anyone who has ever wondered about the road not taken, and whether the other life would have been as glittering as it looks.

Starring Asa Butterfield (Netflix’s Sex Education) in his stage debut, written by Barney Norris, based on David Foenkinos’ best-selling novel and directed by Michael Longhurst

Hamilton is now booking to September 2025

Did you know…

HAMILTON is the story of America’s Founding Father Alexander Hamilton, an immigrant from the West Indies who became George Washington’s right-hand man during the Revolutionary War and helped shape the very foundations of the America we know today. The score blends hip-hop, jazz, blues, rap, R&B and Broadway - the story of America then, as told by America now.

HAMILTON has book, music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda, is directed by Thomas Kail, with choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler and musical supervision and orchestrations by Alex Lacamoire and is based on Ron Chernow’s biography of Alexander Hamilton. Winner of 11 Tony Awards including Best Musical, 7 Olivier Awards, the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the 2016 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album.

• 20,520 words are sung throughout the show, at an average of 144 words per minute, and if Hamilton were sung at the pace of other musicals, it would take four to six hours to perform.

• The rap in the show’s 18th track Guns and Ships is considered to be the fastest song in musical theatre, with an average of 6.3 words a second.

• 890km... is the distance the show’s two revolves (known as a donut!) have travelled over the course of 1500+ shows so far at the Victoria Palace Theatre. This is the same distance as driving from London to Munich.
