Dear Sorors:
Welcome to the 2022 Cluster Season! Implementation of the International Programs will be the focus of this Cluster Season. Sorors will have an opportunity to gain valuable knowledge, information, and best practices to ensure the successful implementation of the International Program “Soaring to Greater Heights of Service and Sisterhood.” I know that under the leadership of the Great Lakes Regional Director, Soror Gwendolyn Kirtley sorors will implement the programs with fidelity and Sisterly Service.
We are excited that sorors will have an opportunity to meet in person and reacquaint themselves with sorors we have missed over the last three years during Cluster Season due to Covid. We know that as a Sisterhood we are “Greater Together!”

To my Oh So Pretty Sorors,
Welcome to the 2022 GREAT Great Lakes Region Cluster Conference! I am beyond blessed to hold the position of Undergraduate Great Lakes Cluster Coordinator. As my last semester begins, I am ecstatic to spend it traveling to meet my fellow sorors across the region and make meaningful connections.
I would like to thank Madam Regional Director Gwendolyn Kirtley and her team, Graduate Great Lakes Cluster Coordinator Geraldine Horton, and all my Graduate and Undergraduate Cluster Coordinators who have worked tirelessly to make this Cluster one of a kind. I would also like to thank my graduate advisors, Soror Tamra Billinghurst-Black and LaToya Smith and my Omega sorors for supporting me while taking on this new position.
As we start today’s programs, I hope that you’re able to grasp new concepts and develop new ideas to integrate into your remarkable chapters. As you soak in all this information today, don't forget to get a few laughs in and say hello to those sorors you haven't seen in a while but also make new connections, and exchange numbers because at the end of the day we are extremely blessed to be able to gather together as one to serve the greatest sorority.

Greetings Sorors of the Gracious, Great Lakes Region,
With enormous pleasure, we welcome you to Utica, New York. Utica is a charming city in the Mohawk Valley, at the base of the Adirondack and Catskill mountain ranges. It is known for its rich culture and abundant natural resources. Harriet Tubman's route to Buffalo guided enslaved people to pass through Utica on the New York Central Railroad right-of-way in the lane to Canada. It is a major culinary city known for diverse cuisine featuring Utica specialties such as Half-moon Cookies, Chicken Riggies, Tomato Pie, and Utica Greens. It is also famous for its breweries and the internationally renowned Boilermaker road race. In 1981, Nu Psi Omega was chartered in Utica, New York.
As we SOAR to Greater Heights of Service and Sisterhood, we are humbly honored to be the host chapter of the 2022 Great Lakes Region Western New York Cluster Conference and look forward to working with the leadership of our new administration to launch the 2022-2026 international programs. The Sorors of Nu Psi Omega embraced the ideology that we are "Greater Together" in service and sisterhood as we enthusiastically and passionately planned for your arrival and engagement. During your visit, we extend our hospitality from the historic Double Tree by Hilton Hotels. We want to thank all of the members joining us today, and we hope that your experience with us will be enlightening as we begin another chapter of "service to all mankind." Moreover, we are humbly grateful to serve under the alluring vision and guidance of our Great Lakes Regional Director, Soror Gwendolyn L. Kirtley.
Sorors, on behalf of the members of Nu Psi Omega, we pray for blessings to be bestowed upon all of us as we fellowship and wish each of you traveling mercies as you return to your homes and communities.
Yours in Service and Sisterhood, Cheryl Beckett Minor

During Soror Madelyn Hairston Gidden’s tenure as the 17th Great Lakes Regional Director, the Cluster concept was the Great Lakes Region’s proposal for the realignment alternatives. When Soror Gloria Stephens Smith, PhD, became the 18th Great Lakes Regional Director, she organized the Great Lakes Region into Clusters. Soror Barbara McGriff, a member of Delta Nu Omega Chapter, was the first Western New York (WNY) Cluster Coordinator. In its early stages, nominations for WNY Cluster Coordinator would be sent to the Regional Director. She in turn would submit the nominations to the Cluster to be voted on at the last Cluster meeting of the current administration. Eventually, the Regional Director would appoint the WNY Cluster Coordinator.
The WNY Cluster has always focused on leadership, civic engagement and embracing the arts. Soror Bertha E. Simpkins, a member of Delta Nu Omega Chapter and former WNY Cluster Coordinator, established a recognition award for Undergraduate Sorors in the Cluster who demonstrate leadership, excellence, academic achievement and pride. The idea for this annual recognition at each Cluster meeting was a way for Soror Bertha to honor her Mother, Soror Adrienne M. Simpkins, for her love and support. The Western New York Connections Coordinator has motivated the chapters in this Cluster to actively participate in AKA Days at the Capital in Albany, New York as well as communicated best practices from the region for advocacy and education with respect to voting and the Census. In order to utilize and showcase the talents of WNY Sorors, Soror Janet Barnes, a member of Gamma Phi Omega Chapter and former WNY Cluster Coordinator, led the Nellie B. King Choir. This choir exemplified the power and passion of Soror Nellie B. King, member of Gamma Phi Omega Chapter and former WNY Cluster Coordinator.
Today, the WNY Sorors in the current 11 active chapters in metro Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Utica, Ithaca and Corning continue to build on the foundations laid by the WNY Cluster Sorors that have developed and executed a model of sisterhood and service that is unmatched.
