Greetings Sorors, The 2020 Founders’ Day “Inspiring Alpha Kappa Alpha Excellence Forever” is a true testament that exemplifies the love, respect and honor we have for the founders of our illustrious organization.

We are especially excited to have our Former Supreme Basileus Soror Dorothy Buckhanan Wilson be our keynote speaker at the Southern California Founders’ Day, on Saturday, January 25, 2020 in Long Beach, CA. I have the pleasure of being the keynote speaker for the Northern California Founders’ Day on Saturday, February 8, 2020 in Fresno, CA. It is an honor to celebrate 112 years of Supreme Service to All Mankind. It is my hope that as we continue to sustain our perpetuity, each Soror in the sorority will continue to embrace the high standards presented to us by our founders and contribute to the continuance of inspiring our future.

I would like to extend thanks to the Southern California host chapter Theta Alpha Omega and Northern California host chapter Iota Omicron Omega for planning one of my last Founders’ Day event as your Regional Director. Tea Roses to the fabulous Cluster Coordinator team for their hard work to assist with ensuring that this year’s activities will be inspiring, motivational and memorable.

Greetings Sorors, Soror Ethel left a legacy that is not to be taken lightly or devalued. Her vision and foresight created the foundation that spring boarded into the great organization we belong to today and uphold with great esteem. No doubt she was visualizing “Exemplifying Excellence through Sustainable Service” as she moved forward. As others joined her to actualize this vision, let us reflect upon what legacy we can leave and how our involvement will impact others. As we once again honor our founders, it is important to remember that at some point we will be remembered for our contributions to the perpetuity of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. What legacy do we want to leave? The theme for this Founders’ Day “Inspiring Alpha Kappa Alpha Excellence Forever” should propel us to want to be remembered as servant leaders who were mentored by many but who also mentored many. Thinking of Soror Ethel again, we should be thought of as visionaries who are not afraid to take a risk for the good of helping others. Integrity, honesty and confidentiality must be our platform and a part of our legacy as the baton is passed from our hands. Our founders expected this and nothing less. As we approach their celebration be mindful that the sisterhood and sisterliness rest solely on us to exemplify and demonstrate to those who will follow not only our founders’ footpaths but ours as well.

Greetings Sorors, We are grateful for Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated and proud to celebrate 112 years of sisterhood and the legacy of this illustrious organization. This year’s theme is “Inspiring Alpha Kappa Alpha Excellence Forever”. As we embrak on this Founders’ Day let us remember all the strides and efforts made by our Founders to building our history and solidify it forever. The Southern California Cluster honors our extraordinary founders whom envisioned the collective power of women of great moral and ethical character, amazing strength and endurance, and whose memory continue to spur us to reach new heights of supreme service.

Under the theme, “Exemplifying Excellence through Sustainable Service”, our international programs HBCU for Life: A Call to Action, Women’s Healthcare and Wellness, Building Your Economic Legacy, The Arts! and Global Impact days demonstrate our dedication to outreach globally and continue our mission to provide Service to all Mankind.

Our Founders and the women of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated are clear about their purpose to perpetuate our beloved sorority as we continue to enhance the lives of African Americans and all races in communities where we live and work. Collectively and individually members of Alpha Kappa Alpha continue to make indelible impacts in their communities traversing socio-economic, political and cultural climates and transcending boundaries.

Tessie Cleveland Community Services Corp. (TCCSC) is a not for profit community based mental health center serving children and families from birth through the end of the golden years.

Items collected will be donated to Naomi s House. Naomi s House is a gentle haven of healing for homeless women. It is the only safe haven for single, homeless women in Fresno County. Naomi s House is a gentle haven of healing for homeless women. It is the only safe haven for single, homeless women in Fresno County. Naomi s House was started in 2002 by a group of concerned community members who observed numerous homeless women on the streets of Fresno. Naomi s House is a 24-bed overnight shelter for single, homeless women. It provides basic necessities such as showers, clothing, meals and medical and/or dental care.

Each woman is served with dignity and respect. Clients can participate in case management services to assist them in finding housing, accessing mental health services and assisting them in making positive life choices to achieve self-sufficiency.

Classes provided are: Peer counseling, life skills, agency referrals, health education, 12-step class, 12-step support group and self-esteem class.

Women wishing to access Naomi s House services are through self or local agency referral. To access services, you must be a homeless, single female, over 18 years old, and have the ability to care for yourself.

Women sign in nightly Monday through Friday at 4:30 p.m. and weekends and holidays at 12:45 p.m. There is no limit on nights of stay; a woman may access services as long as she chooses to do so.

Registration There will be NO On-Site Registration.

• Only financial sorors may participate in conference activities. Each soror must have her own registration using her financial card number. She may not be the guest of another soror at this event.

• Please retail the email confirmation from the online registration process and bring it with you along with photo ID to the conference for check-in.

• The Registration fee includes: Conference entry fee, Lunch, and a cluster souvenir.

• Refund requests must be made in writing and postmarked no later than one week prior to the conference. Please review the complete Regional Refund Policy included in this packet.

Registration will be available online only. Registration instructions are as follows: 1. Go to the Far Western Regional website at: www.aka1908.com/farwestern 2. Click REGISTER FOR REGIONAL EVENTS on the main page.

3. To begin registration, you must login to the Far Western Region page. Your login is the email address you have on file with the Corporate Office. Your password is your financial card number (unless you have changed it on the Corporate website).

4. Once you have successfully logged in, select “Upcoming Events” on the left Menu. If registration is open, the event you wish to attend will be listed (undergraduate Round-up, Cluster Conferences, Founders’ Day or Regional Conference). Scroll to the bottom of the screen and click on the event.

5. Before clicking “Register for the Event” button, you might want to review, save or print the “Downloadable Documents” for that event listed below this button.

6. Select the appropriate registration fee (Graduate / General Member or Undergraduate) then click “NEXT.” 7. Follow the online registration instructions to complete your registration and process your payment.

8. Individual sorors registrations must be paid by credit card. Please do not mail in individual Registration Form. The form is for chapter use only and must be accompanied by a chapter check. No exceptions.

Group Registration 1. Go to the Far Western Regional website at: www.aka1908.com/farwestern 2. Click REGISTER FOR REGIONAL EVENTS on the main page.

3. To begin registration, you must login to the Far Western Region page. Your login is the email address you have on file with the Corporate Office. Your password is your financial card number (unless you have changed it on the Corporate website).

4. Once you have successfully logged in, select “Upcoming Events” on the left Menu. If registration is open, the event you wish to attend will be listed (undergraduate Round-up, Cluster Conferences, Founders’ Day or Regional Conference). Scroll to the bottom of the screen and click on the event.

5. Before clicking “Register for the Event” button, you might want to review, save or print the “Downloadable Documents” for that event listed below this button.

6. Once the meeting summary is displayed, click on the “Register Now” button. The registration screen will then be displayed.

7. Click on the “Group Registration” button. You will then be walked through a Wizard to enter the group registration for your chapter.

8. For chapters processing group registrations and paying by chapter check or money order, select “BILL ME” or “PURCHASE ORDER” as the method of payment. Chapters are to mail the payment, a copy of the Registration Summary Form and a copy of the confirmation email immediately after the online registration has been completed. Payment must be postmarked within three (3) business days of registering online or your registration may be cancelled. A $25 cancellation fee will be assessed on all cancelled registrations. A $75 fee will be assessed for a Returned Chapter Check. Please do not mail in Individual Registration Form. The form is for chapter use only and must be accompanied by a chapter check. No exceptions.

9. Make your chapter check payable to: FAR WESTERN REGION. Designate your Chapter Name in the memo line of your check and mail with a copy of the Online Confirmation to:

Refund Policy Once you register for a Regional Event, the Planning Committee includes your presence at the event in the planning activities for the event. The size of the meeting room and the meal counts consider your registration as part of the number of Sorors attending the event. We understand that unexpected events occur that may require you to cancel your attendance at the Regional Event. If you must cancel, please note the following criteria will determine whether you are eligible for a refund of your entire registration fee: 1. The refund request must be in writing and submitted to the Far Western Region Special Assistant to the Regional Director with a copy to the Regional Treasurer and the Regional Technology Chairman at the email addresses listed below.

2. The refund request must be dated no later than one week before the convening of the conference in order to receive a full refund less a processing fee of $25.00.

3. The reason for the refund must be included in the request; i.e. work related, family emergency, etc.

4. Requests dated later than one week before the convening of the conference may be considered at the discretion of the Regional Director. Additional justification regarding the refund request may be required.

In general, refunds will be made after consideration of the following factors: 1. Funds are available after all expenses associated with the event have been paid. (The refund may not be paid until up to 45 days after the event).

2. A processing fee of $25.00 will be applied to the total registration fee.

3. If the request for refund is received within 10 days prior to the Regional Event, the portion of the registration fee applied to meal events will be reduced to cover the cost of the meal.

4. A $75.00 fee will be assessed for a returned Chapter Check.
