AsIapproachmy29thyearatAjax,Ifindmyselfreflectingonhowfarwe’ve comeandwhowe’vebecomealongtheway.WhenIstartedhere,Ajaxhad about60employeesand3asphaltplantsfromPalmettotoPuntaGorda Everyonekneweachotherandinmostcasestheirfamiliesalso Whenthe fieldhadabigdaytheofficewastheretocelebratewithacoldbeverageas thelastrollercompleteditsfinalpassoftheday.
Fastforwardnearlythreedecades,andAjaxnowhasover600employees acrossmultipledivisionsandeightasphaltplantsstretchingalongFlorida’s westcoast.We’vetakenonbiggerprojects,expandedourreach,andset newstandardsforexcellenceinFlorida’sconstructionindustry Thatkindof growthissomethingtobeproudofandeverysingleoneofyouhasplayeda partinmakingithappen.Butwithgrowthcomeschange.

CAPE CORAL, FLORIDA
TheCityofCapeCoralwasoncealower-populated,ruralcommunitythat reliedonseptictanksandshallowgroundwaterwells.Overtime,theshallow wellshavebeendepletingtheuppergroundwateraquifer,andfailingseptic systemshaveallowedeffluenttoflowintogroundwaterandcanals,creating potentialenvironmentalproblems.
TheUtilitiesExtensionProjects(UEP)weredevelopedtoaddressthese concernsbyprovidingCitywater,sewer,andirrigationservicestothearea As partoftheseprojects,newroadsarebeingbuiltinconjunctionwithsewer installation,alongwithstormwaterimprovements.Todate,theCityhas extendedutilitiestonearlyallofCapeCoralsouthofPineIslandRoadandis nowworkingnorthward.Ajaxsuccessfullybidandwasawardedallsix contracts,workingalongsidefivedifferentgeneralcontractors.
Someofthemainchallengeswefacedincludedmultipleredesignsbythe City,suchasaddingturnlanes,performingbridgework,andchangingcertain sectionsfroma1”millandpaveto2”withmultiplelifts.Thesechangescaused delays,especiallyduringtheactivehurricaneandrainyseason,which resultedinreworkinareasaffectedbystandingwater.

HOW’S TRUCKING DOIN’?

InSeptember,wecelebratedDriversAppreciationWeektothankallofour driversfortheirhardwork,longhours,anddedication.Thetrucking departmentdemonstratedconsistentperformancethroughoutthelast quarter,ensuringreliableandtimelydeliveriesacrossallprojects.Ourteam maintainedastrongfocusonsafety,compliance,andefficiency,while continuingtomeetthedemandsofasphaltandaggregatehauling. Preventivemaintenanceonequipmentwasprioritizedtoreducedowntime andsupportoperationalreadiness.
WehaveanewadditiontoourequipmentdowninFortMyers,abrandnew MACKwillbethenewheavyhaultruck.Aswemoveintothenextquarter,the departmentremainscommittedtomaintainingserviceexcellence, supportingprojectschedules,andupholdingthehigheststandardsof performance.

Q3wasanexcitingandimpactfultimefortheAjaxWarriors.Ourannual in-personmeetingwasheldonSeptember18attheAjaxBarn,bringing togetherbothcurrentWarriorsandthosepreparingtojointheteam Theday focusedontheimportanceofmentalhealth,whatittrulymeanstobeanAjax Warrior,andsettinggoalsforthefutureofourprogram
WewerehonoredtohostOliviaBroskyfromTheCrisisCenterofTampaBay andJayneTingleyfromCenterstone,whosharedtheirexpertiseandprovided valuableresourcestohelpsupportthewellbeingofourA-Team.Theirinsights weredeeplyappreciatedandsparkedmeaningfulconversations.

We’vehad24teammembersexpressinterestinjoiningtheAjaxWarriors. We’replanningatrainingsessiontogetallnewWarriorscertifiedbytheend of2025,andwe’reespeciallyexcitedtowelcomeseveralfieldemployeesinto theprogram.
