PROJECTS: Integrated Assessment of SDGs for Bangkok Metropolitan Region (BMR) and Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) based on EarthObservation and Space Technology (CBAS-BMR&EEC)
Duration: 2025-2027 (3 Years) Description: The Integrated Assessment of SDGs for Bangkok Metropolitan Region (BMR) and Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) based on Earth-Observation and Space Technology is a collaborative project between the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) and the Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA). The project aims to develop an integrated framework for monitoring and assessing SDG progress in rapidly developing metropolitan regions through the application of Earth Observation (EO) and space-based technologies. The initiative focuses on establishing a systematic database that combines satellite imagery, geospatial datasets, and locally collected information to support evidence-based decision-making. High-resolution satellite data are utilized to analyze urban expansion, land-use and land-cover changes, environmental conditions, and infrastructure
development across the study areas. The project also develops a set of region-specific SDG indicators tailored to the socio-economic and environmental context of BMR and EEC. Through field surveys, stakeholder consultations, and sub-regional workshops, the project integrates local knowledge and policy priorities into the indicator framework. This approach allows for the identification of key sustainability challenges, as well as potential synergies and trade-offs among different SDGs. The outcomes of the project include an EO-based monitoring system, an integrated SDG indicator database, and policy-relevant insights that support planners and decision-makers in advancing sustainable and resilient regional development in Thailand. 🌐 https://www.instagram.com/p/DFUGc_lTqo8/?utm_
