GLOBAL MINDS UNITE: AIT STUDENTS EXPLORE THE ‘FUTURE OF CAPITALISM’ WITH RENOWNED LEADERS

Description:

Eleven students from the Asian Institute of Technology’s School of Management (SOM), including current students and alumni, are participating in the innovative course titled ‘Future of Capitalism, which commenced on 22 January and will continue until mid-April. The course is jointly led by Shizenkan University and IESE Business School, with participation from learners representing 15 other esteemed business school institutions.

BREAKING BARRIERS: REDUCING INEQUALITIES THROUGH SPORT AND INCLUSIVE PRACTICES

Description:

CIFAL Bangkok, Special Olympics Asia-Pacific, and AIT jointly organize the webinar on Breaking Barriers: Reducing Inequalities through Sport and Inclusive Practice. The webinar will present a real-world example to address SDG 10, Reduced Inequalities and Missing Millions, which will enhance social inclusion—not leaving anyone behind.

IDRC DELEGATION VISIT TO GENDER

AND DEVELOPMENT

STUDIES AT AIT

Description:

Paula Banerjee, IDRC Endowed Chair and Director of the AIT CGFD, elaborated on the center’s mission to address gender gaps in forced migration and displacement, focusing on generating local data and knowledge for global dissemination. She provided an overview of the center’s achievements, ongoing projects, and collaborations with various stakeholders, emphasizing the importance of addressing these complex issues in South and Southeast Asia.

Banerjee further highlighted the urgent need for extensive research in the region, especially given the political situation in Myanmar. She called for stronger collaborations with IDRC to expand research initiatives that address forced migration and displacement challenges.

AIT HOSTS “REFUGEE VOICES FROM SOUTHEAST ASIA” WORKSHOP IN COMMEMORATION OF REFUGEE DAY

Description:

AIT hosted a “Refugee Voices from Southeast Asia: Commemorating Refugee Day” workshop on 26 June 2024. This event was a collaborative initiative involving the Centre on Gender and Forced Displacement (CGFD)/ Gender and Development Studies at AIT, Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS), and Asylum Access, Thailand (AAT). The workshop highlighted the rising number of forcibly displaced individuals globally, driven by factors like natural disasters, climate change, environmental degradation, development-induced displacement, resource crises, persecution, and conflicts. It critically examined the international refugee system’s ability to manage these displacements, the migration trends, extended conflicts, and the issue of prolonged homelessness.
