WORKING EXPERIENCE

TRANS HEALTH Illustration set (October 2023)

Set of 14 illustrations created for Associació Gender and LGBT Lab. Used for an education course directed at Health professionals within the health system of Catalunya. I was given full creative license, taking into account the parameters of each catewgory in where the illustrations would go. The restricted palette used incorporated variations of blue, pink and white, the colours of the trans flag.

PERSONAL

SPRING IN THE FOREST Illustration (January 2021- April 2021)

This was a character design project with the motive of Ostara (similar to Easter). I designed a representation of Spring in the body of a small child, frolicking in the deeps of the forest. I present her illustrations always accompanied by a poem.

The colour palette for Spring. They are made to relate to three elements: the earth and its core, the trees and their bark, and the leaves and bushes of the forest.

WORKING EXPERIENCE

KELPIE ATTACK Digital media - (October 2022)

My role as a concept artist intern at Scruffy Dog Creative Group has been to design and photobash semi-realistic environments, to illustrate the guest experience at seasonal attractions designed by outside companies. This particular illustration was designed as a Halloween experience for social media. In it the guests would have found themselves going face to face with a Kelpie, a mythological creature known for drowning passerby’s.

PERSONAL

COSMIC FLOWERS AGAINST RACISM Ink on paper (October 2020)

Every year in October there is an ongoing challenge: as per the rules, every drawing made must be done with ink on paper. I’ve been participating since 2018, introducing small variations to the prompt list, or creating my own. The 2020’s version was a mix of both flower prompts and cosmic prompts.

Taking advantage of the reach the hashtag Inktober has, I used my own drawings to raise money for different associations supporting BLM around the world (Stop Hate Uk, SOS Racismo, BLM Global Network, among others). In 2020 I succeded in raising 5% over the projected goal.

PERSONAL

KISS YOU TO DEATH Digital illustration (April 2020)

This is an artwork created with the motive of Saint Valentine’s day. I wanted to recreate Gustav Klimt’s famous piece, “The kiss”, with my own spin on the narrative. The one in the black dress is one of my characters. As a reaper, she is tasked with bringing the dead to the shores of the afterlife. I dressed her in a black traditional Japanese bride dress to symbolize the relationship between love and death. The colour palette is designed to relate as much as possible to “The kiss” by Klimt while also retaining a warmer quality.

COMMISSIONED

500 CARTAS SIN REMITENTE Illustrations (March 2019- April 2019)

This artwork was commissioned by the author, Anna Boho. She specified the theme she wished for the cover and the inside illustrations. They usually followed either a poem included in the book itself or about instances of her life she found particularly relevant. All drawings were made digitally, but as per request of the commissioner, the brushes used were to have the same texture as pencil.

PERSONAL

BLACK LIVES MATTER Digital illustrations’ set (June 2020)

During Pride 2020, I created a series of drawings based on prompts. I combined them with BLM information and activism. The drawing on the left was in remembrance of the Pulse bar massacre and the death of two transgender BME girls, Dominique and Riah. I used the moon and the rising tide to reference femininity. The next page drawing was inspired by the poem Invictus, by William Ernest Henley: “In the fell clutch of circumstance I have not winced nor cried aloud. Under the bludgeonings of chance My head is bloody, but unbowed.”

COMMISSIONED

RELATS REALS Illustrations (May 2019- June 2020)

This was commissioned artwork by the SOS Racisme association, based in Barcelona, Spain. They were to be illustrations of real situations narrated by survivors of racial discrimination. One of the most important specifications for the artwork was that it had to follow a strict palette.

COLLABORATION

THE HILL WE CLIMB llustrations (February 2021 - April 2021)

This is a collaboration with Marissa García (a graphic designer) for an illustrated reading of “The Hill We Climb” by U.S. poet laureate, Amanda Gorman. A bundle of 30 illustrations accompany the video and emphasise each stanza.

The color palette for the projects was chosen with the input of both participants.

COLLABORATION

The team refused the initial design: the colour palette clashed with the project’s intentions, and the font used didin’t allow for guest artists’ creativity and there were concerns it would overimpose a design.

WE COULD EXPRESS OURSELVES Graphic design (February 2020- June 2020)

This was a class social project. The objective was to find something, either a movement or a problem, that we wished to aid or promote action for or against. As it is, the project was centered on promoting the normalisation and inclusion of street art as such, rather than being classified as vandalism. Here are the examples I drew
