Safety First Safety & Student Learning First. We are committed to providing experiences on campus while optimizing health-safety and abiding by local directives. We are committed to Continuity of Instruction and student learning while optimizing healthsafety on campus. We are committed to communicating what we do to optimize health-safety, staying adaptive and making data-informed decisions regarding campus use.

Testing & Vaccination Protocols

Campus Health & Thermal Screening

Expect these to vary and evolve depending on the status of community spread. We will continue to test students, faculty, staff, and visitors on an as-needed basis. Full vaccination is required of all adults on-campus. Families should pay attention to and abide by home country health ministry recommendations regarding vaccinating adults and children.

We anticipate maintaining this level of diligence into next year. We see this practice as conducive to the health and wellbeing of everyone on campus.

Learning Models Framework Flexible, adaptable, and engaging. We are committed to our Learning Models Framework based on the underlying assumption that we may need to be flexible in moving between Virtual, Hybrid, and On-campus learning due to the pandemic and/or government directives. Further, we will leverage the flexibility of our Framework to facilitate start-of-school and end-of-semester transitions for those not able to be in Chennai. We will use feedback from the 2021-2022 school year to inform revisions and adaptations to our 2022-2023 Framework.

Three Models for Learning

Intentional Planning with Flexibility in Mind In anticipation of ongoing and evolving challenges associated with the COVID-19 pandemic for the foreseeable future, AISC has developed three models for learning. Our experience with Virtual Learning has also helped us to see that there are opportunities to enhance and transform our approaches to teaching and learning through this experience. The juxtaposition of the 3 Models of Learning presumes the centrality, relevance, and necessity of a robust virtual learning home for every learner. While the commitment to each student’s classroom home remains paramount, the virtual learning home empowers our teachers and students to move with flexibility between the models of learning. Across all three models, our commitments to providing a holistic education and personalized learning, sustaining wellbeing, engaging environmental responsibility, learning from experiences and exposure to differences, and taking advantage of the resources of our community are unwavering.

Conditions dictate that the AISC campus can be open at normal capacity levels, health risks are low, and our student body is local.

Conditions dictate that campus can be open and that some students and faculty can be safely on campus.

This is the AISC learning experience with all students, faculty, and staff attending school in-person five days a week, according to our daily schedules and annual calendar. The learning that happens outside of the school day is mostly homework, reading, projects, and extension activities to name a few. Many co-curricular activities may be able to take place. Preventative health measures, realistic physical distancing guidelines, as well as routine hygiene policies and procedures are implemented on campus. The risk of exposure to the virus that causes COVID-19 is considered low enough that student density in classrooms and shared facilities is appropriate.

Students and faculty in Chennai can be on campus, if they choose to be so.

Perhaps some students or faculty cannot be on campus because they are away from Chennai.

Conditions could also dictate that not all students or faculty can be safely on campus at the same time due to social distancing.

This model offers the opportunity of on-campus learning along with teacher-directed virtual experiences.

This model introduces physical distancing and density reduction on campus as key strategies to further reduce exposure within our community, while at the same time maximizing in-person and synchronous interactions between students and teachers.

Conditions dictate that AISC’s campus must be closed.

Our campus is closed and school remains open through virtual learning experiences. Students attend school virtually through synchronous and asynchronous lessons, activities, and projects. Collaboration and engagement is largely virtual. Courses and classes will be modular, scheduled, and students will engage with developmentally appropriate digital instruction, both face-to-face and through virtual artifacts.

Student schedules will be personalized and dependent on location and time zones. Technology and Digital Literacy support will be rich and varied, ensuring both access and empowering online agility for our students and families.

Start-of-Year Options Learning Never Stops at AISC We will be open for learning on August 2nd. We expect to start the year in On-Campus learning for all students PK-12. We will be responsive and adapt to local health-safety conditions and to local government directives. We are also committed to assuring Continuity of Instruction to our community who attend AISC from all over the world.

Virtual Learning Program We will seek to provide Virtual Learning accommodations on a case-by-case basis. The benefits of virtual learning are flexibility for the student and family, and anytime/anywhere access during times when students may be unable to come to campus. Assuming that On-Campus Learning is available at this time, we will not be offering Virtual Learning as an opt-in Program.

Athletics/SAISA/ ASIAC/MUN and Other Extracurricular Programs

Beyond the Classroom Our SAISA and ASIAC seasons are on for 2022-2023. We will provide a robust program for students to engage in interests outside of the classroom. Within the limitations of any government orders and ensuring safe practices, we will provide as diverse a range of options as possible. Student and faculty travelers will need to abide by country-specific vaccine and testing requirements. If a country requires a vaccine and the student is not vaccinated, AISC will not be in a position to intervene.

School Trips Stay Safe and Hope to Travel When AISC students venture away from campus, the School assumes more responsibility for student and faculty health-safety. Situational testing may be required to participate. As vaccines become more widely available, expect that vaccinations may also be required at the discretion of the school when appropriate to do so.

ASA Programming All Fun, No Fees!

No fees. ASAs are a vital aspect of the AISC experience. From 2020-2021, ASAs were run virtually through the year free of charge. We will continue to adapt and innovate our ASA program to serve our students regardless of being Virtual, Hybrid, or fully On-Campus. All Virtual, Hybrid, or On-Campus ASAs in 2022-2023 will be no-fee.

Wednesday Afternoon Programming

Summer Programming

No fees. Student Activities and ASAs will run on Wednesdays After-School! Wednesday afternoons will be a special activity day for students with more time to take advantage of co-curricular programming. Wednesdays will be early release days at 2:30 pm and students can start taking advantage of activities 2:455:00 pm for elementary and middle school students, and 2:45-after 5:00 for high school students.

Summer programming is a Go! Our Summer JumpStart and Camp Programs for all students in June and EAL Beginning students in July will be available and free of charge.

Food Services Fee-based. We plan on having all four vending areas up and running at the start of school offering a wide variety of choices at various times of the day and on weekends. During the 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 school years, cafeteria food was provided to students when on-campus with no fees as a COVID courtesy. Starting in 2022-2023, prepared food on campus will be for purchase.

Putting Learning to the Test Summative All School Assessments (WIDA, MAP ) Testing will continue throughout the school year. Specific dates and, where applicable, grade levels will be shown on the community calendar. Testing communication will also be shared by each of the sections, elementary, middle, and high school.

Open Doors and Open Minds We will communicate frequently, proactively, and use multiple modes whenever possible.
