Brand Summary & Objective

The Smitten Kitchen wants it's readers to not only enjoy the photography and recipes within this mini collection, but to enjoy the process of cooking or baking, as well as enjoying the emotions and memories being created. It is not about being the perfect chef or how the final dish turn out, but the steps along the way.

Objective My objective is to create a small collection of recipes of different tastes, diets (vegetarian, mediterranean, etc) and varying levels of difficulty/ease to offer everyone a chance to create something within their comfort zone as well as trying something new. There will be two parts. Part one will consist of breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Part two will be desserts and cocktails.

Main Goals

Style Provide and create a style that is clean, easy to read, stylish, yet neutral enough that it could work with anyone’s kitchen style.

The recipes will be in varying diet styles(vegetarian, dairy free, etc) that will provide readers with a familiar taste but the options to expand their preferences.

There are options for different time limits and involvement. Some will be quick and easy to make a happy family dinner or fast lunch as well as more extensive options to allow those around you to help out.

Behind The Book

Since I was young, I have had a passion for trying new experiences. My parents and family always encouraged me to do as much as I could when I was young while I had the opportunity to. Some things like sports and instruments passed by quickly but food was something that struck me.

I loved the control and freedom of cooking. I could tailor it to my taste, experiment, and usually end up creating a new version of what I already loved.

Cooking helped me to practice measurements and following all of the rules.

I wanted to make this mini collection of recipes for new cooks, old cooks, and anyone in between looking for something new. My book is here to help those with the same passion break free of the same recipes they may be stuck to, learn a new version of their old favorite, or simply have a good time in the kitchen.

I chose yellow for its association to the sun rising and being a brightening color, representing the start of the day.

I chose green thinking of salads, sandwiches, and veggies. It also felt like a neutral option for this mid- day meal.

In similar association to yellow, I chose blue to represent the night as well as being a calming color.

Tips & Extras

Often when I think sweet, I think of pink for frosting, sprinkles, cotton candy, etc. Aside from brown, pink felt the most appropriate.

Of my own preference, my favorite drinks are anything fresh and fruity. Naturally, I picked red for drinks to create the association of fruits and sweetness.

This is the only section that does not have a color code since it does not contain any recipes. In place, all of these pages have been created with the same format.
