‘The Lyrebirds’ is an experiment. Back in Term 2, Kiran and I attended a few sessions of ‘The Mango Pulp.” It wasn’t back in Term 3. Thus, the two of us decided to start ‘The Coral Creative” in Term 4, a club which aims to compile student submissions into an artistic magazine. Kiran will tell you the name sucked and that he thinks the idea is silly. Sometimes experiments fail. But this mini issue is our first attempt to put something out there.

I am convinced that this will flop and no one will read it. I have no idea why I’m doing this right now. I was forced to graphic design this against my will. I would rather do anything except for graphic design some creative magazine no one will read. You know, during lunch one day, we did an informal survey to see how many people read the school magazine, the Voice, and the most common responses were “who reads the voice?” and “What’s the Voice?” Thomas will deny this information, yet it is true. But, here are some creative submissions from very talented students, or I’m supposed to say something like that. Have fun reading it

I guess.

Below

As it tumbles ‘cross the gap, the unshorn Fleece of unkept shoes Release themselves.

Below, they join the populace of Unsought sweaters, letters in Asbestos bottles, cast and mottled by lost insignias.

This far south, the mould will condensate. In darkness it is possible For the rust of September

To now emboss The ground.

It remains, awaiting sparks or something elemental To pass, new lightning. When it comes, The hairs strung starboard — Brought to transit from their Breaches — trail the passing Carriage. So

When awaking here, the whole unseen Mess will hasten through the air and loosen on the coming wind. And so with one wash, the Ashen spill that we Accumulate below Returns to now.

Here is a remix of a Fortnite lobby song titled “Breathing Underwater” made using Bandlab. I attempted to add a slightly more cinematic feel to the original song with a greater use of string instruments. I also sampled one of Alan Watts’s speeches. A final mix will come out by next yearhere is just a preview - there are many mixing issues that need to be smoothed out. Scan the QR code or click the link to listen.
