Emirates A380 comes to Glasgow

Over the past few months, the aircraft that’s been making news in the aviation and travel press (leaving aside the problems around the 737 MAX) has been the A321LR, with airlines lauding its ability to open up new routes.

AV Geeks and frequent flyers aside most members of the travelling public would be hard pressed to identify an A321 (or indeed an A320, A319 etc).

The one aircraft though, which they can identify, and which still generates considerable excitement is the A380.

In fact, the arrival of the A380 in Scotland resulted in Emirates getting pretty much blanket press Scottish coverage.

The Scottish Sun reported on special locations being set up for plane spotters so they could see it.

The Glasgow evening paper, the ‘Evening Times, ran a photo story previewing the interior of the "luxurious double decker jet" (as it called it), while the website of the Sunday Post carried a video of the A380s arrival.

The buzz around the A380 arriving in Glasgow shows that more than a decade after its initial launch, the aircraft still has significant PR value for the airlines that operate it. T

his is of course despite the fact that it has no new customers, and will soon cease production.
