Spostandoci infatti verso nord, sulle sponde più vicine a Bellagio, il conte Frizzoni due secoli fa soddisfò un desiderio della moglie, la quale cercava una villa per le vacanze proprio in riva al lago. Il regalo alla consorte arrivò nel 1854, per il suo compleanno, inaugurando un palazzo che sino ad oggi ha conservato il fascino della sua storia.

Solo dopo una ventina d’anni questo divenne Grand Hotel Bellagio, realtà alberghiera di lusso che la famiglia Bucher, antenata dell’attuale general manager, ha acquistato nel 1918, modificandone nel tempo il nome. Da allora, superando il secolo e mantenendosi come intatto patrimonio familiare per quattro generazioni, il Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni conserva tracce di Art Deco e degli anni in cui per i grandi nomi del jet set della politica e dello spettacolo c’era la corsa alla “villeggiatura”. Da sempre privilegiata anche dalla posizione raccolta e quasi esclusiva che occupa, questa lussuosa struttura è ancora meta di un certo tipo di viaggiatori e del loro “entourage”. E che dire dell’imponente Grand Hotel Tremezzo, iconico albergo del Settecento nell’omonima località, ancora oggi rifugio di celebrities anche per la sua piscina “water-on-thewater” con beach club annesso? Un fiore dell’ospitalità sul bacino di Como, rimasto fresco rinnovandosi nei servizi, ma conservando allo stesso tempo il suo prestigio. Anzi: ogni 10 luglio esso festeggia la sua inaugurazione (avvenuta nel 1910) con uno spettacolare appuntamento, cui partecipano puntualmente gli ospiti più affezionati, celebrando una proprietà che offre una vista unica, interni d’epoca Art Nouveau, dettagli esclusivi, oltre ad un’anima sempre frizzante. Un altro esemplare cinque stelle lusso resta il Grand Hotel Victoria, a Menaggio, una perla di lago senza tempo che, da un anno, si arricchisce anche di una concept spa, ad oggi la più grande area wellness del Lago di Como. Vocata all’accoglienza più ricercata e al bien vivre, l’ex dimora liberty ha scelto una forte connotazione contemporanea negli arredi che convivono accanto agli stucchi dei soffitti, attirando viaggiatori provenienti non solo dall’arco alpino ma anche da Oltreoceano, conquistati dallo charme e dal glamour senza tempo che le rive del lago sanno offrire. speak of inspiration from afar, a clock on the corner marking the cosmopolitan tempo of the passers-by and guests seated outside, and the embellished staircases inside, a precious legacy of the past and blending well with the recently refurbished rooms and suites. Farther northwards on the shore closer to Bellagio is where, 200 years ago, Count Frizzoni satisfied his wife’s longing for a holiday villa right on the lakeshore. His consort’s gift arrived on her birthday in 1854 in the form of a mansion that continues to retain its age-old charm. Not until about 20 years later did it become the Grand Hotel Bellagio, a luxury hotel that the Bucher family, forbears of today’s general manager, purchased in 1918, later altering its name. Since then and having celebrated its 100th birthday as an intact family legacy spanning four generations, the Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni has conserved touches of its Art Deco style and memories of the years when the big names in the political and entertainment jet set became keen to “chill out”. Having always been blessed by its secluded and fairly exclusive location, this luxury hotel still attracts a certain type of traveller and their “entourage”. And what to say of the imposing Grand Hotel Tremezzo, an iconic 18th-century hotel in the resort of the same name and still a place of refuge for celebrities thanks partly to its “water-on-thewater” pool with annexed beach club? A beacon of hospitality on Lake Como, it remains fresh after upgrading its offer while losing none of its prestige. Every 10 July it celebrates its opening (in 1910) with a spectacular event that regularly attracts its most loyal guests to honour a hotel that offers unique views, Art Nouveau interiors and exclusive detailing, as well as an always effervescent spirit. Another five-star example of luxury is the Grand Hotel Victoria in Menaggio, a timeless lakeside gem that has boasted a concept spa for the last year, to date the largest wellness area on Lake Como. Given over to the most sophisticated hospitality and bien vivre, this former Art Nouveau residence has adopted a strongly contemporary look for furnishings that live alongside stuccoed ceilings, attracting visitors not only from both sides of the Alps but from overseas too, won over by the timeless charm and glamour offered on the shores of Lake Como.
