VENDOR FLIGHT LOG: DEXTRA DATA

Anne Gibson shares the secret of DextraData’s success through the ability to adapt the Logipad EFF & EFB solution for the needs of each customer

Anne Gibson is Business Consultant for DextraData’s EFF & EFB Solution Logipad. From the start of her career, she has been driving digitization in the general airline industry, but especially among airlines. Anne has more than 10 years of expertise around aviation and digitization consulting. In addition to her work as a consultant, as a trained flight attendant, Anne knows aircraft and the entire industry inside out: For more than seven years she worked for the well-known German airline Lufthansa. On behalf of DextraData, Anne leverages Logipad against the madness of pilots’ paper in the cockpit and flight attendants’ paper in the cabin. She works to create a relaxed and efficient flight operation.

Aircraft IT: Your name, your job title and the name of the business?

Anne Gibson: Anne Gibson, Business Consultant, DextraData GmbH (Logipad).

Aircraft IT: How did Logipad by DextraData get started?

AG: The Electronic Flight Bag and Electronic Flight Folder Solution named ‘Logipad’ can trace its beginnings back to 2002. After a request from a German Airline, Logipad was developed. It was created by in-house developers and a team that worked very closely with the customers. Even today we are in regular communications with pilots and cabin crew members, as well as maintenance staff and back-office teams to constantly expand and improve the functionalities of the Logipad Application. Working directly and closely with our customers is one of the most important parts to us. DextraData itself was founded back in 1995 when there were still ZIP drives instead of clouds and Bytes were still written without Giga. IT was just a cost factor. A quarter of a century later, DextraData stores entire data centers in the cloud, calculates in petabytes and understands IT as an important part of the digital value chain.

“we are in regular communications with pilots and cabin crew members, as well as maintenance staff and back-office teams to constantly expand and improve the functionalities of the Logipad Application. Working directly and closely with our customers is one of the most important parts to us. ”

“… technology based on data must help with optimization in order to reduce CO2 as much as possible. With Logipad, we are contributing to this.”

Aircraft IT: What is the guiding business principle

that drives DextraData?

AG: Solutions that make our customers more successful. The future means digitization and digitization means networking machines, people, processes and services in order to make relevant business decisions. Economic success is closely linked to the use of the right business applications: software that analyzes, optimizes, increases efficiency and offers security. And all this as ‘Trusted Advice’.

Aircraft IT: What has Logipad’s greatest business achievement been to date, and why?

AG: Our greatest business success cannot be described with numbers, but with the satisfaction of and good feedback from our customers. We maintain a very close relationship with all our customers and this exchange plus the common goal to have a safe flight execution with all the features it needs is the greatest success for us. We serve small and large airlines as well as business jet operators and cargo airlines. We are proud, that Logipad can be used for all airlines worldwide.

Aircraft IT: What have been your disappointments and what have you learned from them?

AG: One of the biggest disappointments is to see again and again the little things that often cause digitization to fail. For instance, when target groups don’t take the time to look at solutions and thus miss out on huge opportunities. From what we have learned we know that we want to keep making low-threshold offers to help these people jump over the low hurdles.

Aircraft IT: In a sentence, how would you summarize what Logipad does for aircraft operations customers?

AG: We enable pilots to have a paperless cockpit before flight, in flight and after the flight with our ability to display forms (eForms), documents (Documentation) and briefings where we get the data linked to other systems.

Aircraft IT: What do you feel will be the next big thing in operations Aviation IT?

AG: Sustainable flying. Reducing carbon emissions is the mission, zero-carbon engines is the goal. Until then, technology based on data must help with optimization in order to reduce CO2 as much as possible. With Logipad, we are contributing to this.

Aircraft IT: What do you want your customers to say about Logipad.

AG: We place the biggest focus on customization, and this is also the point where we clearly stand out from our competitors. For us, the most important thing is that the customer fully understands and makes the best use of Logipad and thus has his familiar forms and processes mapped in digital form. The Logipad Application with its three Modules (Briefing, Documentation and eForms) will look a little different for every customer, because every airline has different requirements and regulations. We adapt the app to the customer and not the other way around.
