Über 30 Jahre AMAZONAS, über 30 Jahre Ultra-Light Hängematten
1992 war ich, Matthias Saul (Firmengründer von AMAZONAS) 3 Monate mit dem Einbaum zwischen Ecuador und Peru im Gebiet der Huaorani Indianer unterwegs. Geschlafen habe ich natürlich in einer Hängematte – einem 3 kg Ungetüm mit dicken Hölzern. Das dafür passende Moskitonetz war selbst zusammengenäht, was vielen Moskitos und den noch fieseren Black Flies unzählige Besuchsmöglichkeiten offen ließ. Und das Regendach? War eine Plastikplane, mit Bindfäden abgespannt …
Das war die mentale Geburtsstunde der AMAZONAS Hängematten – ich merkte, da muss es etwas Besseres geben. Und daran begann ich zu arbeiten …
Heute, über 30 Jahre und viele Testreisen später, bin ich stolz die perfekten Ultra-Light Hängematten präsentieren zu können:
Aus extraleichter Fallschirmseide, extragroß für den Liegekomfort, den man braucht, wenn man tatsächlich auch mal darin schlafen möchte. Stabil und reißfest für jeden Einsatz. Aber gleichzeitig so leicht und klein packbar wie nur irgendwie möglich. In verschiedenen Varianten, mit Moskitonetz und ohne, für die Spezialisten unter euch sogar mit diagonalem Einschubfach für eine Isomatte. Zum leichten Befestigen mit ultraleichten, verstellbaren Seilen. Und als Krönung für alle Outdoorfans, die es wirklich ernst meinen: Ein federleichtes Regendach, welches exakt dazu passt.
Ich hoffe, all ihr Abenteurer da draußen habt daran genauso viel Spaß, wie ich damals und heute!

A note from Matthias Saul, founder of the AMAZONAS company …
In 1992 I spent three months in a dugout, travelling the region of the Huaorani Indians between Ecuador and Peru. Naturally, I slept in a hammock – a 3 kg monster with thick wood spreader bars. I‘d sewn the crude mosquito net together myself, which left the way open for countless mosquitoes and the even worse black flies. And the rain cover? A sheet of plastic, secured with ties …
That was when the idea of the AMAZONAS hammocks was born – I knew there had to be something better. And so I got to work …
Today, more than 30 years and countless test trips later, I am proud to present the perfect Ultra-Light hammocks. Ecuador, Rio Shiripuno 1992

Made of ultra-light parachute silk, and ultra-large for the lying comfort you need if you really want to be able to sleep in them. Sturdy and tear-proof for any use. Plus de 30 ans d’AMAZONAS, plus de 30 ans de hamacs ultra légers
En 1992, moi, Matthias Saul (fondateur de la société AMAZONAS), j’ai sillonné pendant 3 mois la région des Indiens Huaorani, entre l’Équateur et le Pérou, en pirogue monoxyle. Naturellement, j’ai dormi dans un hamac – un monstre de 3 kg avec du bois épais. La moustiquaire qui allait avec était ellemême assemblée par des coutures, ce qui laissait quasiment la porte ouverte à de nombreux moustiques et aux plus redoutables encore mouches noires. Et le toit protégeant de la pluie ? C’était une bâche en plastique, tendue avec des ficelles …
C’est à ce moment-là qu’a germé en moi l’idée des hamacs AMAZONAS – je me suis dit qu’on pouvait certainement faire mieux. Et j’ai commencé à travailler dessus …
Aujourd’hui, plus de 30 ans et de nombreux voyages d’essai après, je suis fier de pouvoir présenter les hamacs ultra légers parfaits :
En soie de parachute ultra légère, en très grande dimension pour offrir le confort de couchage nécessaire à tous ceux qui veulent réellement dormir dedans. Stables et résistants à la déchirure pour chaque utilisation. Tout en étant aussi légers et compacts que possible. Dans différentes variantes, avec et sans moustiquaire, et même pour les spécialistes avec un compartiment diagonal pour accueillir un matelas de randonnée. À fixer facilement avec des cordes réglables ultra légères. Et cerise sur le gâteau pour tous les fans d’activités de plein air qui ne font pas les choses à moitié : un toit très léger pour protéger de la pluie qui vient s’adapter parfaitement dessus.
