INTRODUCTION

Introduction When John Corlette founded our school in 1949, he knew that the balanced development of mind, body and spirit would require unique ingredients. A strong and abiding family spirit. Inspirational and outstanding educators.

A truly diverse student body. A unique location. And the spirited independence that comes with being a non-profit school. Seventy-five years later, Aiglon continues to grow and thrive. So this is a tribute to life lived on the mountain: our home, our classroom and our way of life.

“ We explored all kinds of skiing. We could go off-piste, look for moguls, go cliff-jumping... I loved it. I think that Aiglonians become quite adventurous – we love to explore and conquer off-piste ski runs. It’s part of the school spirit. Looking back, Aiglon taught us how to enjoy and respect nature.”

The Aiglon Archives All the images in this book have been drawn from our school archives, which many of you have so generously contributed to over the years. This year, to mark our 75th Anniversary, our Archive Manager Natasha Storey has organised and digitised what was previously a dusty storeroom filled with boxes. In the process, we have discovered so many incredible images – but the majority lack any detail. We don’t know who is in the photograph or even when or where they might have been taken.
