INTRODUCTION A building consists of infrastructural and superstructural elements. The superstructure is more considered by the users, however the infrastructure has an important role in sustainability, durability, comfort and “sense of space”. NA Architects has published this booklet in order to represent Navak project’s design and construction process and to share ideas with architects, professionals and building inhabitants. This booklet represents the “design and construction culture” we aim to introduce and follow. The mentioned process involves our design-construction approach, concept- base design, BIM technology utilization (Building Information Modelling) , business-planning methods.

ABOUT NA ARCHITECTS
(NAIMI & ABTAHI ARCHITECTS)
NA Architects, was established in 1986. The studio has designed over 70 projects in different typologies such as residential, office, bank, industrial and gated communities. From 2012, trying to define a new agenda and design methodology, NA Architects started a process of rethinking their professional history by incorporating young and experienced architect’s practice on one hand and their local and international knowledge on the other hand. The aim was to eventually put into practice the contemporary architecture alteration. Such re-thinking was contributed by an investigation on the new ideas, methods and technologies of today’s architecture. A part of the above-mentioned agenda defines a flexible design road-map which describes the process of design. A multidisciplinary approach which consists of team-work, multidisciplinary studies, planning on the basis of architectural and business parameters, BIM (Building Information Technology), and intense contribution with the clients. At NA Architects, each project is the means of a process of new-space creation. By referring to our experiences and by rethinking our past, we attempt to find new solutions for each given situation. A scenery tries to be drawn through the process of studying the contextual, cultural and social factors. The response tries to be innovative and experimental, with regards to our professional consultants’ ideas and our clients’ demands and views.

BUILDING CREDITS One of the complications in architecture is to select “the most proper” elements from the available materials and technologies. The properties of such elements need to meet the criteria of the work-plan, design and concepts. In “Navak 07” project, we attempted to select every element in order to create the “planned-harmonious whole”. Strategically we used every possible local material and technology, and in case of local shortage, international products has been applied.

BIM PROCESS At NA Architects, renders are not only used to illustrate the space but 3D virtual space is used to design and virtually construct the building before being actually built. BIM is used to : VIRTUALLY BUILD THE BUILDING VISUALIZE THE SPACE STUDY ALTERNATIVES DESIGN CONSTRUCTION DETAILS ENHANCE COMMUNICATION OF DIFFERENT DESIGN MEMBERS ENHANCE COMMUNICATION OF ARCHITECTS AND BUILDERS

BUILT AS DESIGNED Being well utilized, BIM is a very helpful process in order for the architects to keep their design-vision homogeneous with the actual being built space.
A RCHITECTURE
- THE ATRIUM
The 2 merged patios and the lobby create an internal semi-private atrium. The atrium which acts as “Cuore del’edificio” which is an Italian term which would be translated to “the heart of the bundling”. The atrium helps the offices with natural ventilation and sunlight penetration. It bounds the life of the building together.

Top - The Atrium The atrium’s life flows through the inner patio to the lobby. Right - Atrium View The Atrium is the theatrical platform of water, light, the greenery and the blue sky. Wood, stone and steel wove the fabric of the atrium together.
ARCHITECTURE
- THE ATRIUM
Top - Stack Effect of The Atrium The difference of air pressure leads to the “stack effect” of the atrium. It helps the offices - on the different floors - to controllably ventilate the stale air. On the other hand, The semi-conditioned atrium environment acts as a thermal-filter between the “conditioned” offices and the outer space. Right - Atrium Axonometric Cross Section

“Cement-resine Screed” as the sub-structure of the atrium’s cascade, is under construction.
“Cement-resine screed sub-structure is covered with a smooth cement layer. The later layer is covered by Ceresit (CR 166) water proofing coating.
Thermo-wooden substructure is being installed on the facade.
The stones are being sorted and selected on the construction site.
