1 LU/HSW New York State enacted the nation leading Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA) in 2019. Governor Hochul issued Executive Order 22 (EO22) in Sep 2022 directing State agencies to lead by example and adopt a sustainability and decarbonization program. The Green NY Council has been working diligently to develop specific guidance documents and implementation tools for all state agencies to meet EO22 and CLCPA. This session will discuss the requirements of EO22 and available resources for State agencies and design professionals and provide examples of how EO22 is being implemented at the University at Albany and other agencies.
2:30 PM - 3:30 PM The Impact of Technology for the Practice of Architecture Volker Husel, AIA & Tiffany Faltermeier 1 LU The advancement of technology has greatly impacted the Design industry. Everything we did just 20 years ago has changed to such a degree that the profession is not recognizable anymore. This comes with great challenges for AEC companies, especially for small and mid-size firms. The promises and advertisements of the software industry often does not get materialized as we as professionals struggle to keep up with each new change and advancement. AI is knocking on the door. Costs are increasing, quality seems to diminish, and the knowledge of construction seems to fade away. How do you manage these challenges as a small to mid-size firm, what strategies can you develop to stay focused, keep good standards, train your staff and avoid the software hunting to solve process and workflow problems.
4:45 PM - 5:30 PM
