MODULE reinterprets the post–World War II modernist ambition to deliver well-designed housing at scale. Rather than treating standardization as a path toward uniformity, the project uses a repeatable architectural module to produce varied, context-responsive homes with greater efficiency, quality, and affordability.
Designed for Knoxville’s typical 50-by-150-foot traditional neighborhood lot, MODULE can be configured as a single-family house, duplex, triplex, or quadplex. Each configuration shares a common dimensional, structural, and construction logic, allowing the system to respond to different neighborhood conditions, densities, orientations, and household needs. Porches, entrances, roof forms, and exterior spaces can be recomposed across sites, creating distinct buildings without sacrificing the efficiencies of a shared platform.
