LETTERS FROM THE EDITORS Working on this issue of Filter has been bittersweet. Seeing as I’m graduating next week, this is my last one. Even though Mr. Stanyard and I created the magazine only last spring, putting each issue together has made an impact on me. It’s amazing to have the opportunity to look through beautiful art work from Anderson’s students and then put the images together in my style. The 2018-2019 school year was a busy one, and filled with art! Enjoy these photos from the AP photography students and award winning pieces. Thank you for taking the time to appreciate the talented artists of Anderson with me, and welcome Maire Stonecipher, the new student editor next school year! I can’t wait to see where this little photo magazine will go!

Another school year is in the books! It has been a fun and exciting year at Anderson High School, and it is hard to believe it is coming to an end. This issue of Filter marks the end of an era, as our student editor, Sarah, will be graduating. She has done a fantastic job putting together our magazine over the past two years, and without her efforts it would not exist. To Sarah and all of the students who have made great art this year, “Thank you!”

AP 2D STUDENTS’ WORK AP testing just wrapped up and when most people think of the exams, they don’t consider the art classes. But, the AP 2D Design, AP Drawing, and AP 3D Design students all submitted their portfolios to be graded in early May. These students put in hard work to create 24 final pieces that the College Board reviews over the summer and then gives a score between 1 and 5. The following photos were made by AP 2D Design students this year in their classes.

AWARD WINNING PIECES Anderson photography students are encouraged to enter several art competitions throughout the year, including the Ohio Governor’s Youth Art Exhibition and the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. Evening for the Arts is Anderson High School’s annual art show, usually taking place in mid-April. This year’s showcase was on April 10th and that night the gym was filled with students, teachers, family members, friends, and more. The art show truly shows how many art classes Anderson has to offer through the photography, drawings, paintings, and sculptures. A guest artist attends the show as well and awards students on several categories, some of which are shown here!
