YOUR WILL PAVES THEIR WAY
A note of thanks to Catherine and William Callaghan:
You would never have known the profound impact and far-reaching ripple effect of your gift. Our wish is that we could have had the opportunity to thank you accordingly.
In 1822 Catherine McAuley received an inheritance from William and Catherine Callaghan. With that gift, Catherine built a house on Baggot Street, Dublin, to care for, educate and provide shelter for women and children. That house, now known as Catherine’s House or the Mercy International Centre, stands today as the foundation of a global network.
OUR STORY STARTED WITH A GIFT.
Two hundred years on, our history is evident across our campus. It’s seen in the porphyry stone of our famous walls, in the traditions of milestone events, and in the spirit of our students—our story continues to be told.
Two hundred years on, our history is evident in all corners of the world. It’s reflected in the lives of our former students and their families, the communities they serve, and the work they undertake—our story continues to unfold.
From All Hallows’ earliest days on the banks of the Brisbane River, a handful of courageous Sisters, fresh off the boat from Ireland, lived their Mercy values daily. They tapped into their wisdom, called upon their faith and courage, and used their foresight to create a history that generations have cherished.
As custodians of this beautiful campus, we are fortunate to work, learn and build relationships with one another, continuing to create an environment rich in Mercy values.
A bequest to All Hallows’ School is an investment in our community’s future, an impactful way to ensure our school continues to offer an inspiring Mercy education that prepares our students to influence, guide and face the challenges of their generation.
I invite you to consider making a gift in your Will to All Hallows’ and look forward to welcoming you as a member of our Magnolia Society.

WHY THE MAGNOLIA SOCIETY?
The story of the Magnolia Tree is a cherished part of All Hallows’ history. In a letter written in 1875, Mother Whitty shared the story of a goat that ate the flowers from the magnolia tree just outside her window in Adderton. She remarked that if the magnolia survived, it would surely thrive. Not only did the magnolia endure, but it flourished—just as All Hallows’ School has flourished over more than 160 years.
Magnolias are renowned for being slow-growing trees, and so planting such a tree is an act of faith, as the gardener may not live to see its full beauty. In the same spirit, we can create the Magnolia Society
as a lasting legacy, much like those who came before us, who planted and built for our benefit.
As the Magnolia tree grows, it provides shade, community and sustenance. Likewise, the Magnolia Society will provide future generations with support, connection and funding.
With our rich heritage, steeped in Mercy values and a vibrant community spirit, All Hallows’ continues to inspire and guide our students, staff, and past pupils. Looking ahead, we invite you to join us in ensuring that All Hallows’ remains a beacon of Mercy values and education for generations to come.
