Save Medicaid Victory Rally August 4, 2017 AHRC Nassau Community Hub Site Council
On August 4, 2017 the Community Hub Site Council held a rally at AHRC Nassau to celebrate a victory. The Council had been advocating for a “NO” vote on the Health Care Bill. The Council wanted to thank all the Senators who voted against this bill. Medicaid funds 90% of services. Without it people could lose day hab programs, group homes and other supports that they rely on to live full, active lives. More than 100 people came to sign cards, letters and posters. They thanked the two New York Senators, Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand, and the three Republican US Senators who joined them in voting no: Susan Collins – Maine, Lisa Murkowski - Alaska and John Mc Cain – Arizona. Members also wrote and sent Get Well cards to Senator McCain. It was a day to celebrate and give thanks.
