By offering free, high-quality therapy for as long as it takes, A Home Within makes an enduring commitment to current and former foster youth, who have lived through countless traumas, disruptions, and challenges.
As our clients so often tell us, the results can be life-changing.
In 2025, hundreds of new clients connected with an A Home Within therapist and began their journey to healing, hope, and a brighter future.
We welcomed record numbers of new volunteers and new chapters, despite the many changes, challenges, and uncertainties of our time.
Through our Continuing Education Program, our volunteer clinicians gained new knowledge and skills, helping them address foster care–related trauma with confidence.
With our long-time partner, the Foster Care Research Group at USF, we fully enrolled our randomized controlled trial and published a dozen articles in peer-reviewed journals

Clinical Program Growth Year-Over-Year
Last year, we also experienced unprecedented growth in new trained volunteers, as well as the number of new clients served.
Increased Representation: A Home Within drove unprecedented national expansion, prioritizing diversity and cultural representation that resulted in 35% of volunteers identifying as BIPOC and 25% as LGBTQIA+, ensuring that foster youth have access to therapists who understand and reflect their experiences.
Clinical Research: Over 140 clients chose to participate in the University of San Francisco’s Randomized Controlled Trial—a profound act of giving back that will strengthen our evidence base for future generations.
Partnership Development: We established seven new partnerships with Guardian Scholars programs statewide, developed relationships with Pritzker grant recipients supporting foster youth in Los Angeles, and committed to developing referral partnerships nationwide.
Around the country, committed therapists joined us in launching AHW chapters in their communities. Together we launched 11 new chapters in 2025!
