LIBRARY MAY 2018

adding value in your life

Thank you to the Friends of the Library for In 1968, the Friends of the Library began donating gifts to the library. Several decades later, the nonprofit organization has been able to contribute more than $1.5 million in donations and is now celebrating its 50th anniversary. Through their consistent recognition of the importance of library services, the Friends have served as a vital link between the library and the Arlington Heights community. The Friends have a book boutique in the library and are in charge of four quarterly book sales. The funds from these projects have been used to provide programs, materials, equipment and artwork. “We would not be the library we are today without the 50 years of dedication and commitment by our Friends of the Library. They are so much more than just Friends, they are a reflection of what makes our community so special,” said Library Board of Trustees President Debbie Smart. Congratulations to the Friends for 50 years of dedicated service, advocacy and support. To become a member or learn more about the Friends of the Library, visit ahml.info/get_involved/friends. The Friends, library staff and the Board of Library Trustees celebrated this special occasion on Tuesday, March 27 in the library’s Hendrickson Room.
