Tuesday, December 7, 4:30–6 p.m. Hendrickson Room Read The Many Meanings of Meilan and join us for a very special book discussion where we will be joined virtually by the author, Andrea Wang. Meilan’s world is made up of a few key ingredients: her family’s beloved matriarch, Nainai; the bakery her parents, aunts and uncles own in Boston’s Chinatown; and the Chinese fairy tales Meilan loves. But after Nainai passes away and a fairy tale goes wrong, Meilan’s family moves to a small town that could not be more different from the city Meilan loved. Will Meilan be able to show her true self? Pick up a copy of the book at the Kids’ World Desk. Grades 4–6.
