The Christmas parties of the German-Baltic Chamber of Commerce are a great occasion to end the year together with members, friends and employees of the AHK. This year in Vilnius and Riga, highlights from German cinemas were shown, while in Tallinn a Christmas lunch is on the program. But the AHK Christmas parties are no occasion to celebrate only oneself. Time was also taken to think of people who do not look forward to Christmas so light-heartedly. The selfie was taken at the Christmas party in Latvia. To my right are Rūta Dimanta, founder and president of the charity Ziedot.lv and Māris Balčūns, head of our office in Latvia. Ruta joined us because we collected donations during our Christmas party to reduce the exclusion of financially disadvantaged seniors. We at the AHK hope to make our contribution to society and would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who participated in the fundraising campaign. I wish you and your family happy holidays and look forward to an exciting year at your side in 2020!

Dominic Otto deputy CEO, German-Baltic Chamber of Commerce

On 5 November 2019, AHK colleagues took part in the status conference of the BMBF funding initiative “Internationalization of Vocational Training”, which took place in the Science Park Gelsenkirchen. During the conference, international vocational training projects were presented against the background of the digital transformation. The event was organized by DLR (project executing organization) in cooperation with iMOVE. Two keynotes, addressed from user and vocational training research perspectives, inspired reflection on the chances of digital trends in international vocational training cooperation. A panel discussion allowed representatives of companies, universities, business and government organizations to exchange views on how digital change is reflected in everyday operations, what new demands on employees are emerging and how skill training - in Germany and around the world - must be geared to these new requirements. The panel discussion also included Juris Silis from Jelgavas Tipogrāfija in Lativa, who participated and shared his view from the perspective of the Baltic states. The selfie was taken shortly after the panel discussion.

This selfie was taken while visiting our long-standing member “Vereinigte Hagelversicherung” in Kaunas, Lithuania. During conversations, we discussed how we could further expand our member network in Kaunas. Martynas Rusteika (3rd from right) declared a willingness to be an AHK ambassador in Kaunas and organise regular meet-ups for company representatives with the support of the German-Baltic Chamber of Commerce.
