Matt Balcik CEO, Absheron Hotel Group
Q: 2024 was an incredibly successful year for your company. How would you summarize the key achievements?
A: 2024 truly exceeded all our expectations. We set ambitious goals, and thanks to the dedication and hard work of our entire team, we not only met but surpassed them. From record-breaking occupancy rates to outstanding guest satisfaction scores, every department played a crucial role in our success. It was a year of growth, innovation, and teamwork, and I couldn’t be prouder of what we accomplished together.
Q: Looking ahead, what excites you the most about 2025?
A: There’s so much to look forward to! One of the biggest milestones will be the opening of three new hotels, which is a testament to our continued expansion and strong market presence. But beyond the physical openings, what excites me most is the opportunity to build on our culture and create unforgettable experiences for both our guests and our teams. There’s an incredible energy surrounding these launches, and I can’t wait to see everything come to life.
Q: Your company places great importance on motivation and team spirit. How do you maintain that energy?
A: Motivation and inspiration are at the core of our success, which is why our Townhall events are so important. They provide a space for reflection, connection, and recognition. Every Townhall reminds us of our shared vision and the strength of our team. When people feel valued and inspired, they perform at their best—and that’s what drives us forward.
Q: You introduced the theme “Be More” this year. What does it mean to you and the company?
A: “Be More” is more than just a slogan—it’s a mindset. It’s about continuously pushing ourselves beyond expectations, improving in every aspect of our work, and striving for excellence. Whether it’s in guest service, leadership, or personal development, we want to encourage everyone to take that extra step. It’s a powerful message, and I hope it resonates with each member of our team.
Q: Finally, what message would you like to share with your team as you head into the new year?
A: 2024 was an incredible year, but I truly believe the best is yet to come. We’ve proven that with passion, hard work, and teamwork, there are no limits to what we can achieve. And in 2025 we are carrying that momentum forward, embrace new challenges, and continue to create something extraordinary together.
Together, I’m confident that we will continue to achieve even bigger things. 2024 was amazing, but the best is yet to come!

Ramadan is one of the holiest months in the Islamic calendar, observed by millions around the world. It is a time of fasting, prayer, and self-reflection. From sunrise to sunset, Muslims abstain from food and drink, focusing instead on spiritual growth, gratitude, and acts of kindness.
Beyond fasting, Ramadan is a time of deep connection—families gather for iftar, the meal that breaks the fast, while communities come together to support those in need. The month encourages generosity, with many donating to charity and helping the less fortunate.
As the month concludes, the joyous celebration of Eid al-Fitr marks the end of fasting, bringing with it festive meals, new clothes, and heartfelt greetings. Ramadan is more than just abstaining from food - it is a journey of self-discipline, renewal, and compassion.
Experience the flavors of Iftar this Ramadan with us! Special Iftar menus await you at our hotels for unforgettable moments.
It's a global celebration of strength, resilience, and the unstoppable power of women. International Women's Day is a moment to recognize the incredible achievements of women in every field, from science and business to art and activism. It's also a day to reflect on the journey toward gender equality and the steps we must still take.
Across the world, people honor the women in their lives— mothers, sisters, daughters, friends, and colleagues—by expressing appreciation and gratitude. Whether through heartfelt messages, flowers, or acts of kindness, March 8th is a chance to uplift and support the women who inspire us daily.
But beyond the celebrations, this day carries deep historical roots.
Born from labor movements in the early 20th century, International Women’s Day emerged as a powerful call for fair working conditions, voting rights, and equal opportunities. Over the decades, it has evolved into a global movement, sparking conversations, activism, and progress toward a more inclusive world.
Celebrations take many forms, from vibrant rallies and thought-provoking discussions to cultural events and social media campaigns amplifying women's voices.
In some countries, it's even a public holiday, while in others, it's a time for reflection and action. One beloved tradition is the gifting of flowers—mimosas, roses, or tulips—as a symbol of appreciation and solidarity.
Yet, while we celebrate the progress, we cannot ignore the challenges that remain—pay gaps, discrimination, and the underrepresentation of women in leadership roles. March 8th is not just about recognition; it’s a rallying cry for continued action, awareness, and commitment to building a future where every woman has the opportunity to thrive.
So, as we mark this day, let's go beyond words. Let’s champion women’s voices, support their dreams, and work together toward a world that truly values and uplifts every woman.
Celebrate the elegance and strength of women at Sheraton Intourist Baku Hotel and The Merchant Baku. Experience a day filled with specially curated moments, exquisite flavors, and unforgettable memories.
Novruz is one of Azerbaijan's oldest and most beloved holidays. Meaning "new day," Novruz marks the arrival of spring and the awakening of nature. This holiday is not just the beginning of a new year but also a celebration of national values, unity, and hospitality.
Novruz is a deeply rooted national holiday in Azerbaijan. It reflects our cultural heritage, love for nature, and family values. For every Azerbaijani, Novruz symbolizes harmony with nature, renewal, and the importance of togetherness.
Fire holds a special symbolic meaning in Novruz. It represents purification, energy, and the renewal of the soul. Jumping over bonfires during the pre-Novruz Tuesdays (Çərşənbələr) symbolizes leaving behind negativity and starting the new year with a clean slate. This ancient tradition adds a spiritual depth to the celebration.
Novruz coincides with the spring equinox, symbolizing balance and the beginning of renewal in nature. It’s a time to spend with family, reflect on the past, and look to the future with hope.
Festive tables hold great significance during Novruz. Dishes like plov, shekerbura, pakhlava, and nut-filled qutab are an essential part of the celebration. Each table symbolizes abundance, prosperity, and happiness.
Novruz features traditional dances, songs, egg painting, and other cultural games. The samani (sprouted wheat), as a symbol of renewal, life, and fertility, takes center stage on festive tables.
Novruz brings people together. Families, friends, and neighbors share meals, open their doors, and extend warm wishes to one another. This time of year showcases the highest level of Azerbaijani hospitality.
Step into the festive spirit with beautifully themed sweets and vibrant decorations at The Market, Baku Marriott Hotel Boulevard. A celebration of tradition and taste awaits! Feel the spirit of Novruz at Sheraton Baku Intourist and Courtyard Baku! Celebrate the arrival of spring with us – delicious feasts, joyful moments, and an unforgettable festive atmosphere await you!

The "Addımla" program by Absheron Hotel Group is a testament to our commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility. This initiative aims to unlock hidden potential in various regions of Azerbaijan, addressing the challenges of an underutilized talent pool and limited interest in hospitality careers.
By offering comprehensive training, internships, and job placement, "Addımla!" aspires to transform individuals' lives while fueling the growth of the hospitality industry. Through education, mentorship, and opportunities, we're creating a brighter, more inclusive future for both aspiring professionals and the communities they serve.
The first phase graduates have now started their careers, marking the beginning of the program. With four phases in total, we have seen significant progress to this day. Already, the first phase participants have successfully entered the workforce!
Let’s dive into the undeniable benefits of digital check-ins and explore why this trend is reshaping the hospitality industry:
Imagine arriving at your hotel after a long flight and skipping the front desk entirely. With digital check-ins, guests can bypass the usual wait and head straight to their rooms. This is especially a game-changer for late-night arrivals or those rushing to make a meeting—saving time and hassle from the very beginning.
Digital check-in puts the power back in the hands of the guest. Whether through a mobile app or self-service kiosk, travelers can check in, choose room preferences, and even unlock their room with just a few taps on their phone. It’s a seamless experience that eliminates the need for unnecessary human interaction, streamlining the entire arrival process.
No more racing against a traditional check-in time. With automation, guests can arrive at any hour of the day or night and still enjoy a smooth check-in experience. Late flight? No problem. This 24/7 flexibility allows for much-needed peace of mind for modern travelers with irregular schedules.
Want your room at a specific temperature or perhaps extra pillows on the bed? Digital check-in systems often allow guests to customize their preferences in advance, ensuring that the room is ready exactly how you like it. In fact, many systems can even remember your preferences from past stays—talk about a VIP experience!
For hotels, going digital means less reliance on front desk staff, which cuts down on labor costs and allows staff to focus on delivering exceptional guest service in other areas. This streamlined process not only improves the hotel’s efficiency but also makes for a smoother, faster stay for guests. It’s a win-win situation.
In today’s eco-conscious world, digital check-ins offer an environmentally friendly alternative. By eliminating the need for printed forms, key cards, and other paper materials, hotels reduce waste, helping guests feel better about their carbon footprint while enjoying a modern stay.
Guests are increasingly drawn to the convenience and simplicity of digital check-in. It offers them more control over their experience, and with less waiting around, overall satisfaction tends to soar. As the world becomes more tech-savvy, this innovative feature is quickly becoming a standard expectation for travelers looking for an efficient, hassle-free hotel experience
