From the CEO, Jeff Krejdl

The final audited numbers for the fiscal year ending February 28th, 2022, are complete and Ag Valley Co-op had a great year! We recorded $410 million in sales and posted a local savings of just over $1.5 million. Net savings is $8.7 million, and we will be paying cash patronage this year to you, totaling just over $1.0 million. We returned $583,000 in equity retirement and estate payments, which brings the total cash we will be returning to our members to over $1.6 million. We spent $3.2 million during 2021-22 on capital assets to assist you and your operations.

We will be handing out the patronage checks at our customer appreciation meals scheduled for the week of June 13th. Please be watching your mail for more details. We will look forward to serving you a meal and visiting with you in June!

Over the last couple of months, we have begun to talk about cooperatives and the benefit of the cooperative business model. There are seven core cooperative principles that all cooperatives operate on. The first of those principles is Voluntary and Open Membership. Ag Valley Co-op is a voluntary organization. We are open to all persons able to use our services and who are willing to accept the responsibilities of cooperative membership. We provide those services without gender, social, racial, political, age, or religious discrimination. It is an important principle and part of Ag Valley Co-op as it helps to keep us neutral on all things, including political and economic issues. It reminds us to stay engaged in our communities and with those we serve and act in our entire membership's best interest.

We will talk about the remaining six principles in the following few newsletters.

As we near the end of the spring planting season, I want to thank you for your business. The trust you put in Ag Valley Co-op and our employees to help you with your farming operations is not something we take lightly. Our employee group works hard every day to continue to earn that trust, and I am grateful that you allow us to do our part to help make you successful.

Ag Valley Employees Assist during the Wildfires Ag Valley's own Tony Patsios (Edison), Max Francis (Cambridge), Glenn Hilker (Cambridge), Rocky Hampton (Cambridge) , and Tim Cornwell (Indianola) assisted during the recent wildfires by delivering fuel to fire trucks and keeping the stations open when needed. We want to give a big thank you to everyone who assisted during the fires!
