JULY 26, 2022
From the CEO, Jeff Krejdl As we finish up wheat harvest, I want to thank you for allowing Ag Valley Co-op to help you with your harvest needs. The dry weather certainly had an impact on the bushels that we handled this year, but we are thankful for the opportunity to be a partner in your operation. We will be loading a couple of wheat trains in the next few weeks as we begin preparations for fall harvest. The financials for the first quarter are done, and I want to share with you that your cooperative is performing well this year. The weather certainly had an impact on how the spring agronomy season unfolded. Despite the weather challenges, we exceeded our expectations regarding fertilizer volumes and the services we provided to your farms. There is strong demand for corn right now, and the grain department has been busy shipping that corn into the marketplace. I will continue to tell you that Ag Valley Co-op is committed to controlling its expenses and finding efficiencies in its operations while providing you with the best service possible. That will be more important than ever as we deal with the ongoing drought conditions and the effect that will have on fall harvest. Last month we talked about how principle number two (democratic member control) laid the foundation for the following principle. Member economic participation is the third cooperative principle and is one of the important principles that sets a cooperative apart from any other business structure. A cooperative's profits are returned to the members in various ways. Eligible members should have received a patronage check in the last several weeks. Patronage checks represent the members share of Ag Valley's profits last year and is proportional to their business done with Ag Valley Co-op. In addition to returning cash to our membership, we also use the profits to continue developing and enhancing the services Ag Valley Cooperative offers you. Grain storage and handling, fertilizer storage and application equipment, bulk fuel delivery equipment, and feed services are examples of how we re-invest our profits into the cooperative and our local economies for the betterment of our members and their operations. We will continue exploring the cooperative system's benefits in the following newsletters. In closing, I again want to say thank you for your business. We know that we would not exist without you and your business, and the rest of the employees of Ag Valley Co-op and I are thankful that you allow us to assist you with your farming operations. Our goal every day is to help make your operation run smoother. I would welcome the opportunity to visit with you, so please give me a call or stop in Edison and let me know what we can do to help make that happen.
Thanks,
Jeff Krejdl

Wheat Harvest Recap By the time you get this, July will be about over, which means summer will be ending and school is starting soon. We have officially reached the end of the wheat harvest for 2022. Unfortunately, the drought hit all parts of our trade territory substantially impacting harvest. Nevertheless, our harvest was still successful. The preliminary results for Ag Valley were over 3 million bushels. This year we took spring wheat for the first year, and yields were not as good as hoped for, but we have still dumped almost 12,000 bushels at our Wilsonville facility. We would like to thank all our customers and patrons for their business and trusting us to be your partner in operation. We would also like to remind everyone to please check your traps on your grain trucks before fall harvest; although they may be easy to open when empty, that isn’t always the case when they are loaded. If they need greased or rebuilt, we would greatly appreciate you doing this prior to fall harvest. If you haven’t already done so, Ag Valley has an app that allows you to view real-time scale tickets as you bring us your crops. The app recently was updated to allow you to view your invoices. We all look forward to serving you in a few short weeks. As always, if you have any questions, want to discuss options for your grain, or have any other marketing needs, give us a call. Thank you for supporting Ag Valley Co-op!
