Grain Update - From Brian Groskreutz As we wind down the 2021 Wheat harvest to those last few acres, I would like to thank our patrons for your business. To date our receipts are 20% more than last year. I believe most producers were very pleased with yields this year. The Wheat market on a world platform has many fronts to keep an eye on. The US is not competitive in the World Export arena by $40 to $50/metric ton. Both Canada and Russia are having production issues with an expected crop less than what the most recent USDA reporting shows. Domestically our Northern Spring Wheat is dramatically affected by drought and the Soft Spring Wheat in the Eastern US is working through harvest with wet conditions that is degrading the crop to less than milling quality. Our shipping schedule remains full for the next 45 days with trains for Corn and Wheat at Bartley and Edison and an aggressive truck schedule for Corn, Wheat, Soybeans and Milo in preparation for this fall’s crops.
