Grain Update - From Brian Groskreutz As we wind down the 2021 Wheat harvest to those last few acres, I would like to thank our patrons for your business. To date our receipts are 20% more than last year. I believe most producers were very pleased with yields this year.

The Wheat market on a world platform has many fronts to keep an eye on. The US is not competitive in the World Export arena by $40 to $50/metric ton. Both Canada and Russia are having production issues with an expected crop less than what the most recent USDA reporting shows.

Domestically our Northern Spring Wheat is dramatically affected by drought and the Soft Spring Wheat in the Eastern US is working through harvest with wet conditions that is degrading the crop to less than milling quality.

Our shipping schedule remains full for the next 45 days with trains for Corn and Wheat at Bartley and Edison and an aggressive truck schedule for Corn, Wheat, Soybeans and Milo in preparation for this fall’s crops.

From Jeff Krejdl's Desk We are nearing the end of the wheat harvest, and I can tell you that the crop this year exceeded our expectations. We saw better than expected yields and high-quality wheat throughout our trade territory. Thank you for allowing Ag Valley Coop to help with your harvest needs.

The financials for the first quarter are done, and I want to pass along that your cooperative is

performing

well

this

year.

The

spring

agronomy

season

was

busy

and

exceeded

our

expectations regarding volumes and the services that we provided to your farms. There is strong demand for corn right now, allowing us to empty our elevators to be ready for fall harvest. I will continue to tell you that Ag Valley Coop is committed to controlling our expenses

and

finding

efficiencies

in

our

operations

while

providing

you

with

the

best

service possible.

It seems like you cannot drive past a business today without seeing a help-wanted sign in the window.I will tell you that Ag Valley Coop is not immune to the labor crisis that our communities,

state,

and

the

country

is

facing

right

now.

As

we

navigate

through

this

challenging time, I wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you to all of the employees at Ag Valley Coop. We have asked them to do more with fewer people, and they have stepped up to the challenge. If you get a chance, please thank them as well.

Western Bean Cut Worm Ag Valley's Agronomist are seeing Western Bean Cutworm across the territory in corn fields. Western Bean Cutworm can be damaging to your crop. It can cause a reduction of grain yield by as much as 30 to 40 percent if not treated correctly.

To identify if your field has Western Bean Cutworm look for eggs laid in the upper third level of the corn plant on the upper sides of the leaves. Western Bean Cutworm tends to move to one of two places on the plant, dependent on the stage of the corn. If the corn has not tasseled, larvae feed on the pollen in the developing tassel within the flag leaf. If the corn has tasseled, larvae feed on the silk in the ear.

Contact your local Ag Valley agronomist today to have them check your fields for Western Bean Cutworm. Fungicides and Insecticides have been proven to help elevate Western Bean Cutworm from fields.

Ag Valley Retires Deferred Equities to Stockholders

Ag Valley Cooperative is proud to announce that stockholders born in 1943 and equities acquired from the Big Springs Co-op in 2002 will be receiving equity retirement checks.

CEO Jeff Krejdl, said “It is with great pleasure that we present our stockholders with these checks for their deferred equity. They represent years of support and loyalty to Ag Valley Cooperative. Your cooperative is proud of this accomplishment.”

Ag Valley Co-op has redeemed over $5.8 million of deferred equities in the last 22 years to our stockholders.

Harold and Sheryl Aupperle shared they still had the original certificates from when Harold had purchased shares of the Maywood Cooperative. Below are copies of the certificates from April 1, 1964 and April 1, 1968.
