From the Desk of Jeff Krejdl

The hot, dry weather we had last week certainly took a toll on the crop, but I am excited about the upcoming fall harvest compared to the previous year. Our new Jennings, KS ,facility is complete and fully operational. It is an excellent facility that will be utilized by our member-owners in the Jennings-Clayton-Norton, KS, area. The construction projects in Edison and Maywood are off to a great start. While they will not be ready for the 2023 harvest, the progress made so far will ensure they will be operational by 2024. Both projects will add efficiency, speed, space, and value to Ag Valley Co-op and our member-owners when complete.

Market volatility continues to be the name of the game, and we are watching the energy and fertilizer markets very closely. We aim to keep Ag Valley Co-op in the best position possible to provide you with the crop inputs you need when you need them and at a value that benefits you and the cooperative. Your leadership team and the employee group are committed to making that happen, and we appreciate you putting your trust in Ag Valley Coop.

As you start your preparations for fall harvest, I would again ask that you please check the traps on your grain trailers. If they need maintenance or be rebuilt, please consider getting that done. Traps may open fine when the hopper is empty, but it may be tough to open when that trap gets a load on it. We have had several injuries to our employees attributable to traps that had not been adequately maintained. Our employees are our most important asset. If they are injured and cannot perform their duties, our ability to provide you the quality service you desire and deserve becomes compromised. I appreciate your help!

In closing, I again want to say thank you for your business. We know that we would not exist without you and your business. The employees of Ag Valley Co-op and I are thankful that you allow us to assist you with your farming operations. Our goal every day is to help make your operation run smoother. I would welcome the opportunity to visit with you, so please give me a call or stop in Edison and let me know what we can do to help make that happen.

Thank you,
