LITAL ALBELDAS
Lital Albeldas dreamed of painting since birth, with an ineffable magnetism towards the visual artistic expression therein. Empathy and the desire to encourage are the bedrock messages in her realist, abstract, and figurative abstract paintings. She fine-tuned these intuitive impulses in her studies of Industrial Design at Ariel University: seeking to enliven yet reassure by creating and controlling what we see and use in everyday utility. Exploring numerous media: sculpture, puppet-making, even tattoo and cosmetics, she released her debut Leaflow work in Europe and Israel upon completing her studies.
A self-taught painter, her initial school was realism, but she quickly moved to abstract and also figurative abstract. Albeldas welcomes the peripatetic nature of her work and will even create Kahlo-esque fusions of all three styles. Using acrylic she creates saturating blue contours or eggshell-fine white caps on brilliant turquoise ocean waves. Yet her mien also welcomes ink, oils, oil sticks, and pastels.
After being diagnosed with endometriosis in 2021, she plunged into her work with a renewed desire to broadcast the unique and bitterly painful struggles of the disease’s victims. Drawing on communal starvation for relief from the dreaded symptoms, her most recent works present the female form in both dark and light; the archetypal contrast.
LITAL ALBELDAS ON
Art is a therapeutic tool that gives me a sense of calm, freedom, and a way to cope with the physical pain I experience every day. I feel that I can express my true voice without a filter, without fear, in the most honest and vulnerable way. By documenting my personal journey of healing and resilience, I celebrate the strength of all women in the 21st century and their impact on today’s culture and society.
