Vice President for College Advancement's Message

Dear Agnes Scott alums,

After six rewarding years of service to Agnes Scott College, I will officially end my duties on Oct. 15, 2021. With this farewell letter, I extend my heartfelt thanks and gratitude to you for your contributions to the wonderful chapter of Agnes Scott in my professional life.

Within two weeks of beginning as your vice president for college advancement, I attended three events — a young alumnae event hosted in the home of alumna Kathy Ashe ’68, the Decatur Alumna Chapter Luncheon in Rebekah Scott Hall (before the renovation!) and the Atlanta Alumnae Chapter Luncheon held at the Druid Hills Golf Club. Soon after, I was on the road or in the air to visit with you in your homes and businesses from coast to coast.

Together, we broke bread as I listened to your memories of days gone by when you were students at Agnes Scott — learning all the while. Together, we celebrated your children being born, your getting married, your new jobs and career changes, your retirements and your daughters deciding to attend Agnes Scott themselves (or not). Together, we strategized on how to engage fellow alumnae in giving to the college and how to eradicate the perception of the college as a best-kept secret.

Unfortunately, COVID-19 took a year and a half of such engagement for us. However, this theft provided me with a greater appreciation for the times I did have to work with, laugh with and learn from so many of you.

Agnes Scott is what it is in large part because of you and the different perspectives and lived experiences you offer to the college. You form the mosaic of community that enables Agnes Scott College to be the dynamic, innovative and trailblazing institution it is today.

Thank you for the wonderful memories — such as celebrating alumnae reunion, learning the words to and singing “God of the Marching Centuries,” and spotting the black onyx ring wherever I am, just to name a few. Thank you for being an exemplar of how to support your alma mater, because Agnes Scott needs YOU! Please do not hesitate to stay in touch. #Agnes4ScottEver

With my very best wishes,

Robiaun Charles, EdD, CFRE Vice President for College Advancement rcharles@agnesscott.edu
