As we mark 55 years of growing leaders who make a difference, we continue to honor the legacy we were given, while building what we will pass on to those who follow. Legacy is not a moment that sits behind us. It is something we steward together, one leader at a time.

Throughout the year, we remained committed to our core values of Excellence, Integrity and Respect.

These values shape our decisions, our leadership priorities and the future we are preparing for California agriculture. This past year, we welcomed new staff, strengthened systems, deepened stakeholder engagement, and expanded our University Partnership to include California State University Chico, now joining Fresno State, Cal Poly Pomona, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and UC Davis.

This expanded educational network strengthens the formation of future agricultural leaders and reinforces a legacy that continues to grow.

Strong financial stewardship is part of our responsibility. We are pleased to report that total Foundation assets grew to 29.1 million dollars, and that our endowment and investment accounts increased by approximately 1 million dollars, closing at 27.5 million dollars. Income reached nearly 3.4 million dollars, and expenses totaled 3.2 million dollars, reflecting a prudent and mission-focused budget. We also received a clean audit opinion from Bianchi, Kasavan and Pope LLP, affirming the integrity of our financial reporting. These results reflect careful management and the generosity of our stakeholders. Both remain essential to our mission.

Financial strength, however, is only meaningful when it serves the growth of leaders who serve others. This year, we presented the CALF Lifetime Achievement Award to two alumni who have spent decades strengthening agriculture and their communities through the quiet, steady work of service.

Their lives reflect the theme Legacy Through Service.

Dr. Peggy Sears Perry has devoted her

life to educating and developing leaders with intellectual curiosity, compassion, and integrity. Her work reminds us that service begins by investing deeply in people.

Bart Fisher has served his industry and

community with humility, generosity, and civic commitment. His leadership reflects the belief that influence is earned by serving others first.

Together, these honorees show that leadership is not defined by standing out.

It is defined by standing with others to serve what is bigger than oneself. Their lives reflect the purpose behind every gift, every fellow selected and every investment stewarded at this Foundation.

As Board Chair, I want to recognize the leadership of our new CEO, Lesa Eidman, who approaches her first anniversary with commitment to mission and clarity of purpose. Together with our staff, board, and stakeholders, she is helping us ask a forward-looking question. It does not ask what Ag Leadership has been, but what it must become. How will Ag Leadership shape the next 55 years of impact?

This streamlined, self-paced model reduces email traffic, enhances preparation, and ensures that in-person seminar time is focused on deeper, more meaningful discussions.

CALF’s digital community saw strong expansion this year. Facebook followers grew by nearly five percent, Instagram by almost twelve percent and LinkedIn by more than ten percent, reflecting increasing interest in Ag Leadership’s mission and impact.

Increasing reach and storytelling power CALF significantly broadened its

visibility across all channels. Facebook content generated more than 118,000 impressions, Instagram content surpassed 145,000 views and LinkedIn posts reached nearly 99,000 impressions. CALF also strengthened communication with nearly 140 e-blasts — including the monthly In Touch newsletter — keeping alumni, fellows and partners informed about events, news and campaigns.

Our international seminar through Southeast Asia was transformative both professionally and personally. Growing up in the Central Valley and working closely with communities that aren’t always fully represented has shaped how I move through the world, and I carried that perspective with me abroad. This journey pushed us into unfamiliar spaces where we chose curiosity over comfort. By slowing down, listening deeply, and engaging with farmers, business leaders, and local communities, we learned to meet people where they are. “Touring the San Quentin Rehabilitation Center was far more than a walkthrough of a notorious prison; it offered meaningful perspective on the human beings who are incarcerated and the series of decisions that can lead someone there. Our incarcerated guides led us through the facilities and took the time to explain the programs they have participated in — programs that have helped them grow, develop, and redefine who they are today.

ENDOWMENT INVESTMENT UPDATE FROM CANTERBURY CONSULTING

Over the 2024-2025 fiscal year, the Foundation’s portfolio generated a strong 12.0% netof-fees return, reflecting solid results across most asset classes. Equities were the primary performance drivers. U.S. equity gained 14.2%, while non-U.S. equity returned 13.8%, benefiting from broad global market strength. Fixed income also contributed meaningfully with a 7.3% return, supported by stabilizing interest-rate conditions and narrowing credit spreads. From an allocation perspective, the portfolio maintained a growth-oriented posture, with equities representing approximately 70% of assets.

Longer-term results continue to validate the Foundation’s disciplined investment approach.

The composite delivered 12.6% over three years and 8.9% over five years, ranking better than 64% and 78% of similar-sized portfolios over the same time periods. Over ten years, the portfolio generated a 7.5% per year return and outperformed 74% of peers.

MESSAGE | ALUMNI COUNCIL CHAIR

A Year of Transition, Continuity, and Opportunity Fiscal year 2024-2025 was a year of transition for the California Agricultural Leadership Foundation — a year marked by meaningful change, renewed energy, and a steady commitment to our purpose.

It began with an important moment for the Foundation: welcoming our new CEO, Lesa Eidman. Now ten months into her tenure, Lesa has already demonstrated exceptional leadership. She stepped into the role with clarity, humility, and drive, honoring the program’s legacy while also putting her own thoughtful fingerprints on the organization. Her steady hand and fresh perspective have strengthened our foundation and positioned us well for the years ahead.

AG LEADERSHIP

Our Alumni Council also experienced transition as my predecessor, Heather Mullholland, completed her term as chair. Heather led with passion and dedication, and her service created momentum that we continue to build upon today. This year I had the privilege of stepping into the role of chair, and it has been both an honor and a responsibility that I do not take lightly.

Yet amid these leadership changes, one thing did not shift: the enduring purpose of the California Agricultural Leadership Program. For more than five decades, Ag Leadership has stood as a cornerstone of leadership development in our industry, shaping leaders who are curious, courageous, and committed to service.

That purpose remained central in 2025. And it continued to guide the work of the Alumni Council — a group deeply committed to supporting the program and to engaging our more than 1,300 alumni in our shared pursuit of lifelong learning.

As we look to the future, I see tremendous opportunity. Our alumni community is stronger and more diverse than ever. We are finding new ways to connect across generations, professions, and regions. We are recommitting ourselves to learning, leading, and contributing to a better California agriculture. And, perhaps most importantly, we are ensuring that Ag Leadership remains the must-have leadership experience for anyone seeking to meaningfully shape the future of our industry.

The year ahead offers promise — but it will require all of us. So I challenge every member of our alumni family to lean in: to serve, to support, and to actively invest in the California Agricultural Leadership Program. Together, we can ensure that the impact of Ag Leadership continues to grow for generations to come.
