A CINCO DE MAYO GETAWAY

There’s a popular misconception that Cinco de Mayo (May 5th) is Mexico’s Independence Day. It’s not.

Instead, it’s the commemoration of one battle: The Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. This relatively small victory over France during the Franco-Mexican War represented a major symbolic victory for the Mexican government in helping to bolster Mexico’s resistance.

Cinco de Mayo is a generally small holiday in Mexico and is known as Battle of Puebla Day there. In the United States, however, the holiday has grown into a celebration and commemoration of Mexican culture and heritage.

And what better way to celebrate Mexican culture and heritage but to go visit and experience it firsthand?

One of our favorite ways to visit Mexico is by heading to an all-inclusive resort. You get the best of everything: delicious food and drinks, beautiful accommodations, access to local tours and adventures. Whether you’re traveling with your significant other or the whole family, there will be something for everyone.

The Atelier Playa Mujeres resort is possibly one of the nicest resorts near Cancun. Located about 19 miles north of Cancun, the property is located on an absolutely stunning stretch of beach. They even have an 18-hole golf course, which is prided as one of the best golf courses in Mexico. This resort is for mainly adults (guests must be over 16 to stay), and they have so many activities and areas to enjoy, including: 26 restaurants and bars, a contemporary Artwalk, wellness activities, and so much more.

On the other hand, if you want to get away with the whole family, we’d recommend the Grand Fiesta Americana Coral Beach Cancun All-Inclusive Spa Resort. They have the Coral KidZ Club for 3-12 year old children, and the resort is located closer to Cancun, making it easier to head out to local site and stops should you want to. And the accommodations are simply gorgeous. A massive pool is located just steps from the beach, so you can take your pick on where you want to relax and drink your margaritas. Absolute perfection!

All-inclusive resorts are such a great way to travel in current times. Though Mexico doesn’t require any testing or vaccinations prior to arrival into the country, the resorts have made it top priority to ensure the health and safety of their guests. And most resorts make it easy to request and take the required COVID tests prior to your return to the United States. The process is about as painless as it gets and makes more room for you to relax and enjoy your vacation.

If enjoying everything a Mexican all-inclusive resort has to offer sounds like a great vacation to you, give our advisors at Roseborough Travel Agency a call. They’ll be happy to help.
