HOWDY, AGS! Life in College Station is bustling with the return of students to the campus, and the same holds true for us at Aggie Park. We helped kick off the football season in September against New Mexico, with over 100 San Antonio club members and guests attending the first Aggie Park game watch party for 2023.

Monday Lunch continues to bring interesting and informative individuals to Aggie Park for the 2023 speaker series. Be sure to visit AggiePark.com for a complete list of all the upcoming Monday Lunch speakers. On September 15, your San Antonio A&M Club hosted the 12th Man Reload Shootout at the San Antonio Gun Club for a great crowd of talented shooters. Everyone enjoyed the event, and it was an opportunity to kick off our final scholarship fundraiser of the year, the Nilgai Hunt raffle donated by the East

Foundation. The winner of this raffle will be announced at the annual Club Christmas party on December 7. Also, mark your calendar for Sunday with Santa on December 3. One of the highlights of the year was the C.C. “Polly” Krueger Award Dinner held at Aggie Park on October 17, honoring Mr. Clifton “Clif” Bolner, Class of ’49, posthumously, Mr. Richard “Dick” Kistner, Class of ’65, and Mr. Richard Kardys, Class of ’67 with this prestigious award. Look for more on this inspiring event in this issue of Alamo Aggie.

HONORING EXCELLENCE

LIFELONG EMBODIMENT OF OUR AGGIE CORE VALUES

On Tuesday, October 17, family, friends, and club members gathered at Aggie Park to honor Clifton J. “Clif” Bolner ’49, posthumously, Richard W. “Dick” Kistner ’65, and Richard Kardys ’67 with the San Antonio A&M Club C.C. “Polly” Krueger Award. This award recognizes San Antonio A&M Club members who have made significant contributions through service to our Club, the community, and Texas A&M University, and who have achieved excellence in their chosen professions. The C. C. “Polly” Krueger Award is the highest honor bestowed upon a member of the San Antonio A&M Club. To date, only twentythree club members have been recognized with this distinction.

In attendance were past recipients Chaz Neely, Jr. ’62, David Wolf ’52, Raul Fernandez ’59, Jerry Boles ’71, and Kevin Monk ’78. Porter Garner ’79, President and CEO of The Association of Former Students, and a longtime friend of the San Antonio A&M Club, was present to share his words of congratulations to the award recipients. Additionally, Carla Krueger Belaire ’79, granddaughter of C.C. “Polly” Krueger, was with us to participate in the evening’s events. Special thanks to our partners who made the night a success: 12 Fires Wine, Rebecca Creek Distillery, and our incredible volunteers. It was a privilege to gather at Aggie

Park to pay tribute to three outstanding Aggies—members of our Club, whose contributions, like those of “Polly” Krueger, have been instrumental to the success and prosperity of our Club, our San Antonio community, and Texas A&M University. Congratulations, gentlemen!

RELOAD SHOOTOUT BREAKING CLAYS FOR SCHOLARSHIPS On Friday, September 15, Aggies from around the San Antonio area came together at the San Antonio Gun Club for a great day of breaking clays at our annual SAAMC Reload Shootout! We were blessed with a beautiful sunny day for our 20 teams to compete and compete they did! There was a wide variety of experience on the course ranging from casual to competitive shooters, with multiple participants putting up perfect scores. Impressive shooting, y’all! As a reward for the great shooting, our top team and top male/female shooters walked away with some quality gear from Bird Down Branding Co. After the shooting was over and all the clays were broken, everyone gathered in great camaraderie over some delicious BBQ and some Ag Lager.

AGGIE WOMEN’S CLUB

Howdy, Ags!

Our evening program committee rocked another fun event for our club members on Friday, October 13. The Sisters Grimm Ghost Tours in downtown San Antonio was a monster hit! We followed Spooky Sooz through the Menger Hotel, around a historic cemetery, listened to her gruesome stories about the former jail turned Holiday Inn, and visited the basement of The Gunther Hotel. Way to go Carolyn and Judy for another successful opportunity to gather our group together. Our pecan sales concluded on October 20, and orders were placed with Mascot Pecan Shelling Company. Orders will arrive in time for Thanksgiving. Customers will be notified when to pick up orders at Aggie Park, and we will collect payment on delivery. If you meant to order pecans and missed the opportunity, we always order extras, so reach out to us. Look for details and activities concerning our organization when you follow us on Facebook (San Antonio Aggie Women’s Club) or at AggiePark.com. For questions about our club or club membership, please contact Donna Hill at dchill1025@att.net or at 210-2416719. I am also available to answer any questions at 210633-7992.

DON’T MISS THIS • OPPORTUNITY TO • • PROMOTE YOUR ORGANIZATION TO MORE • • THAN 14,000 BEXAR COUNTY AGGIES. Your San Antonio A&M Club Board is pleased to announce a new giving opportunity to support our club scholarship program. Historically, sponsorships have been marketed for each of our major fundraising efforts, including Coach’s Night, the Club golf tournament, and Family BBQ. In order to simplify this endeavor, the board has approved annual Partnerships levels for named partners to encompass all fundraising efforts for the year. Consolidating what was previously known as an event “sponsorship” into an annual “partnership” will limit the number of times you are contacted with a request for your financial support. It will also improve our patrons’ ability to budget for donation requests and will reduce the emphasis for event chairs to obtain sponsorships.
