HOWDY, AGS! Howdy! It’s been another busy few months around Aggie Park and for the San Antonio A&M Club Foundation!
As always, on April 21st we hosted another beautiful Muster ceremony as 600+ Aggies and Friends filled Aggie Park to call “Here” for comrades that we lost in the past year, and to hear an awesome speech by Dr. John Thornton ‘75. We then toasted them and enjoyed fellowship and some laughs as is the tradition after the solemn event. Thanks to all that helped make this such a memorable ceremony – from the organizers, to the speakers, to the Aggie Women’s Club for providing the sandwiches and serving them, and to Anne Marie’s Catering for support with the food and beverages. Also, a big shoutout to the Staff, and volunteers that helped with setup, cleanup and all that goes into making Muster perfect. Muster is a favorite tradition of mine, and I think the San Antonio A&M Club does the event justice every year. At the end of that week, we hosted the Aggie Band, the Ross Volunteers, and the Fish Drill Team after they marched in the Battle of Flowers Parade. We welcomed 11 buses full of hot, thirsty, hungry cadets, fed them a wonderful meal, and had them on the road back to College Station in under an hour and a half! We even had time for a short Yell Practice! Earlier that morning, we treated Parsons Mounted Cavalry with breakfast tacos to fuel them and iced cold water to hydrate them before they stepped off. On May 18th, we held Coach’s Night at Pedrotti’s Ranch in Helotes. It’s our 3rd year in a row to hold the event there, and it was great and successful once again. Thanks to the attendees, and the generous bids and donations for silent and live auctions and games we netted over $113,000! And a special Thank You to the Staff and Volunteers that worked tirelessly to ensure that everything went off without a hitch.

On October 20th we will honor Mr. Luke Soules III ‘61, Mrs. Mandy Scott ‘87, Mr. James Epp ‘74, and Mr. Porter Garner III ‘79 at an Awards Dinner. Circle the date on your calendars and look for more information to come! In May we also rounded out our Staff with the addition of Veronica Correa ’86 as our new Facilities and Operations Manager. She’s already a fixture around Aggie Park, but please welcome her and introduce yourself to her if you haven’t met her yet. We had a lot of fun this past quarter and raised a significant amount of money for scholarships. To make our fundraising efforts less stressful and taxing on us all, we have a goal of reaching $1 million in uncommitted funds in our Scholarship Endowment account which would allow us to begin distributions. We are about 3/4s of the way there! Please consider a donation straight to the Scholarship Endowment fund and help leave a lasting mark upon the Club. I’m a little over halfway through my President’s Year and having a blast! We are especially excited to share that several new members joined the San Antonio A&M Club during Aggie Muster, reaffirming that our traditions continue to serve as meaningful opportunities to reconnect, remember, and welcome new members into the Aggie Network.
We also want to remind our Aggie family that current Texas A&M students receive complimentary membership with the San Antonio A&M Club. This provides an excellent opportunity for students completing internships, participating in summer programs, or transitioning to San Antonio after graduation to begin building connections with local Aggies early in their journey.
The Membership Committee will soon convene to begin putting ideas into action. Our focus remains centered on strengthening connections among Aggies of all generations, increasing engagement opportunities, and ensuring that Aggie Park continues to serve as a vibrant home for the Aggie Spirit in San Antonio.
As the only A&M Club in the Aggie Network to own and operate its own facility, Aggie Park remains a unique asset and gathering place for Aggies in our community. We look forward to working alongside our members to continue growing engagement, welcoming new faces, and ensuring that the traditions we cherish remain strong for generations to come.

FEED THE RUDDER’S
RANGERS - A WARM SA WELCOME ON APRIL 19, 2026
On April 19, the San Antonio A&M Club was proud to welcome Cadets from Rudder’s Rangers and Texas A&M’s Army ROTC Program. Following several days of rigorous training, our Club was honored to provide these dedicated young men and women with a traditional hot dog meal, a chance to rest, and a warm San Antonio welcome before their return to College Station. It was a truly special morning — parents reconnected with their students, former Cadets passed down their wisdom and spirit to the next generation of future Soldiers, and we showed current students the hospitality the San Antonio A&M Club is known for!
None of this would have been possible without the incredible generosity of our volunteers, who gave their time and energy to make every Cadet feel at home so far from campus. Their dedication is a reflection of the Aggie spirit at its finest, and we are deeply grateful for everything they do. We are already looking forward to hosting Rudder’s Rangers again after their next Field Training Exercise. Gig ’em!

HONORING FALLEN AGGIES - APRIL 21, 2026

The San Antonio A&M Club hosted a commemorative event on April 21 at San Antonio Aggie Park, honoring fallen Aggies. The event drew more than 600 attendees. Guest speaker Dr. John Thornton ’75, a San Antonio native, provided historical and personal context by sharing his experiences attending events at Aggie Park during his youth with his father, William Thornton ’50. Dr. Thornton also discussed his academic and athletic career at Texas A&M, including his time as a basketball player and his experience coaching under Shelby Metcalf. The event concluded with a strong turnout for post-program fellowship, where attendees engaged in networking while enjoying food and refreshments. Overall, the event was highly successful in both attendance and participant engagement. Thanks and Gig ’em!

FEED THE “BAND”
BATTLE OF FLOWERS PARADE - APRIL 24, 2026 After not being able to hold our annual Feed the “Band” event in 2025 since the Fiesta Battle of Flowers Parade took place after Final Review and the Corps contingent was not able to participate, it sure was good to have all those Cadets, Staff, Advisors, and friends back at Aggie Park! We use the term “Band” loosely, because in addition to feeding the “Pulse of Aggieland”, we also hosted the Fish Drill Team, and the Ross Volunteer Company at Aggie Park.
fixings along with their famous iced tea. Aggie Park was packed to the seams in Duncan Dining Hall style seating and the decibel level was just a few octaves below Kyle Field on gameday! We executed a great and very efficient event between ushering everyone in, serving them, letting them eat, having a little fellowship, sharing a few words of thanks, and even having a short yell practice led by newly elected Yell Leader and Ross Volunteer Roy Doggett ’27. It was all accomplished in just a little over an hour with the buses rolling out right at 2pm to get the students back to College Station so they could rest up and prepare for Final Review the next day.
Friday, April 24th started with a few of our members heading down to the parade route to hand out 250 breakfast tacos and water to Parsons Mounted Cavalry before they saddled up for the parade. They fed almost 100 Cav Jocks in total!
Thanks so much to the volunteers that helped with set up, traffic control (foot and bus), and clean up. Also, a special thanks to the Aggie Moms’ Club for the wonderful desserts they provided and served, to the planning committee that made it all happen and go off without a hitch, and to our awesome Aggie Park staff for their support!
A couple of our members hung back to take photos and enjoy the parade while others booked it back to Aggie Park to meet the set-up crew that was already in action. At about 12:45 almost a dozen charter buses rolled into the AP parking lot and over 450 hot, hungry, tired Cadets arrived and were met at the door with a cold bottle of water and a hearty “Howdy!” They were immediately directed to the food lines that Bill Miller had ready to go with Bar-B-Q brisket, sausage, macaroni and cheese, green beans, and all the

AGGIES TAKE A
ROAD TRIP TO OLSEN FIELD - MAY 2, 2026 On May 2, the San Antonio A&M Club chartered a bus to Olsen Field on the Texas A&M campus to watch our beloved Aggie baseball team take on the Auburn Tigers. Despite rainy weather and several schedule changes, 38 enthusiastic fans departed Aggie Park at 8:30 a.m., ready for a day of Aggie baseball and fellowship. A special thank you goes to Ruben Luna, owner of Anne Marie’s Catering, who provided breakfast and trivia for a bus full of spirited fans. We would also like to thank Rebecca Creek Whiskey for sponsoring refreshments for the three-hour bus ride. Although the game did not end in the Aggies’ favor, it turned out to be a beautiful, sunny day at the ballpark. The trip home was just as enjoyable, providing everyone with an opportunity to reconnect and fellowship with fellow Aggies. Thank you to all those who made the trip and helped make the day a success. Prior to joining the Club Foundation, she built a successful career as a Capital Equipment Sales Specialist with GE HealthCare, specializing in Women’s Healthcare. Throughout her career, Veronica earned a reputation for exceeding sales goals, building lasting client relationships, and mentoring and developing new team members.

RAISING SCHOLARSHIPS - MAY 18, 2026
The silent and live auctions were a major highlight, featuring unique Aggie memorabilia, experiences, and travel packages that inspired spirited bidding and friendly competition. Generous sponsors and Aggie-owned businesses stepped up with auction items, underwrote key event expenses, and helped ensure that nearly every dollar raised went directly to scholarships. Thanks to their support, and the strong ticket sales and table commitments from the local Aggie community, the San Antonio A&M Club Foundation is positioned to expand its impact for local students.
On May 18, 2026, the San Antonio A&M Club hosted its annual Coach’s Night at Pedrotti’s Ranch, bringing Aggies together for an evening filled with maroon pride, football insights, and meaningful impact. This year’s event again stood as the club’s largest fundraiser, generating an impressive $113,000 in net proceeds to support scholarships for Bexar County students attending Texas A&M in College Station. Coach Mike Elko shared his outlook on the upcoming season, reflecting on the momentum from last year and the culture being built within the program. He highlighted the leadership emerging in the locker room, the continued emphasis on toughness and accountability, and the excitement around the next wave of Aggies ready to take the field at Kyle Field.
A heartfelt thanks goes out to the volunteers whose countless hours of planning and day-of logistics made the evening run smoothly from check-in through the final auction pick-up. Their efforts, combined with the enthusiasm of every Aggie in attendance, created an atmosphere that felt like a fall Saturday at Kyle Field. As the Aggies look ahead to kicking off the 2026 season against Missouri State on September 5 in College Station, San Antonio Aggies can take pride in knowing Coach’s Night 2026 made a real difference for future students who will soon be part of the 12th Man.
VIP tables once again offered exclusive experiences, including premium seating with Coach Elko and other special guests, as well as dedicated opportunities for photos and conversation. Throughout the night, attendees visited with representatives from The Association of Former Students and the 12th Man Foundation, heard updates on campus life, and enjoyed time with the Texas A&M Yell Leaders.

SPURS SPIRIT IN SAN ANTONIO - JUNE 10, 2026
On June 10, Aggie Park came alive with Spurs spirit as nearly 100 fans gathered to cheer on the San Antonio Spurs during an exciting watch party filled with great food, drinks, and Aggie fellowship. Guests enjoyed an open bar throughout the evening while taking in the game on the big screens. Anne Marie’s Catering kept everyone well-fed with a menu designed for the perfect game-day experience. The crowd favorite was the crispy chicken strips served with Buffalo sauce and ranch dressing, which disappeared almost as quickly as they were served. Fans also enjoyed a fully loaded nacho bar featuring seasoned picadillo, fresh pico de gallo, jalapeños, and all the traditional toppings, allowing everyone to build their own perfect plate.
The combination of outstanding food, refreshing beverages, and enthusiastic Spurs fans created an electric atmosphere that showcased Aggie Park as a premier gathering place for community events. The evening was a tremendous success, bringing together friends, families, and basketball fans to celebrate their hometown team while enjoying exceptional hospitality. With so many attendees and overwhelmingly positive feedback, the Spurs Watch Party proved to be another memorable event at Aggie Park, leaving guests looking forward to the next opportunity to gather, celebrate, and enjoy being a member of the San Antonio A&M Club. YOUNG AGGIES OF SAN ANTONIO: QUARTER 2 The Young Aggies had an exciting and eventful second quarter, with plenty of opportunities to connect, network, and enjoy time together with fellow Aggies. Throughout the spring and early summer, we hosted monthly happy hours, spent a night two stepping at Thirsty Horse, gathered to honor the Aggie tradition of Muster, hit the sand volleyball courts for some friendly competition, attended Coach’s Night to get ready for another football season, floated the Comal River during our annual tubing trip, and cheered on the Spurs together at the San Antonio A&M Club watch party. Whether members joined us for one event or all of them, each gathering reflected the spirit of the Aggie Network and the friendships that make our club so special. As we head into the second half of 2026, we’re looking forward to an even busier calendar filled with new and returning events. Endowment donations received during Q1 totaled $1,463 for the APE and $17,813 for the SE. For the 1st Quarter the market was down a bit so we realized a return of -1.39% for the APE and -1.53% for the SE. For the 12 months ending March 31, the APE realized a gain of 11.04% and the SE realized a gain of 10.47%.
As APEC Chair, I’d like to express sincere appreciation to our 2026 donors for their commitment to building our endowments and ensuring the long-term viability and stability of both our Club facility, Aggie Park, and our Club Scholarship Program. I would also like to thank the members of our Investment Committee—Richard Kardys ’67, Scott McMillan ’89, and Bob Johnson ’90—for providing APEC with expert financial advice and guidance in managing our endowments.
The APE distribution policy allows for an annually calculated amount to be available for repairs, maintenance, and improvements (RMI) for Aggie Park. The RMI available in 2026 is $51,715. Currently, there is no distribution policy for the SE; however, in November 2025 the SAAMCF Board of Directors approved a goal to establish a distribution policy for the SE once the adjusted balance in the account reaches $1M. (The SE balance adjusted for contracted/ reserved scholarship stipends is approximately $760,827 making the gap between the current adjusted balance and the $1M target roughly $239,173.) The San Antonio Aggie Moms celebrated 100 years of existence in April! On April 7th at our monthly meeting, we had a tea party in honor of the Mothers that started the club in 1926. All of the ladies wore their best hats and everyone enjoyed their tea, finger sandwiches and scones.

AGGIE WOMEN’S CLUB
The San Antonio Aggie Women’s Club held our April general membership meeting and luncheon at one of our favorite places, Paloma Blanca. In addition to the delicious food and sparkling conversation, we discussed the aims and objectives of our club and celebrated meeting our fundraising goal of $100,000 for endowing the club’s 70th Anniversary Scholarship. We are so proud that a deserving female Bexar County student will benefit from our efforts in the fall of 2027. Also in April, members visited the San Antonio Zoo to experience Congo Falls, the new towering habitat for the magnificent gorillas, and enjoy lunch together at The Beastro. We are delighted that our 2026 San Antonio Aggie Women’s Club Endowed Scholar Chloe Timm ‘26 was awarded the prestigious Buck Weirus ‘42 Spirit Award at A&M. This award honors 85 students each year who demonstrate high involvement, create positive experiences in the Aggie community, impact student life and enhance the Aggie Spirit. Key involvement during Chloe’s time at A&M includes Aggie Muster Committee, The Big Event, Aggie Sisters in Healthcare, Fish Camp and Class Councils. This award is quite special to our club because one of our founding members of the original Aggie Women’s Club was Claire Weirus, Buck’s wife. Sweetly, Claire’s Aggie sweetheart ring and Buck’s Aggie ring sit side-by-side in the Legacy exhibit at the A&M Alumni Center. The club’s Projects Chair Lori Borroni-Engle ’90 ‘96 was privileged to attend the awards ceremony at Rudder Auditorium with Chloe and her mother. In May, members launched the summer season together in Old Town Helotes with fun, fellowship, shopping,
and dining. We also met for our May luncheon at The Petroleum Club for a scrumptious buffet and to install the 2026-2027 Officers and Committee Chairs. I want to thank Life Member Barbara Yates for emceeing a wonderful
induction ceremony. Though many officers and chairs will remain in their current position or shift into an adjacent position, we are very happy to welcome some new faces. Joining us next season as 1st VP Membership will be Liz Kay Cossey, as 2nd VP Day Programs will be Mary Segovia-Sanchez ’83, and Life Member and Past President and Board Member (She just couldn’t stay away any longer!) Donna Hill will come back after a hiatus to serve as Historian. Thank you to all our Officers and Chairs! I am honored to serve with you. Our club takes a break in the summer, but we hold luncheons on the second Thursday of the month, September-May, at 11 AM in various locations. Most months, we also host a fun activity on an evening or weekend. We welcome new members. If you are a woman who loves Texas A&M, we’d be so pleased for you to join us.
