2025 is over and the original Aggie Park continues to host Monday lunches, events and rentals to our associate members.
This is my final article for the Alamo Aggie as president of the club. It has been a rewarding year with many great memories from Aggie Park and events with San Antonio Aggies. As I take my seat as a member of the club I look forward to seeing our ’26 president, Paula Schnettler ’82 lead the club to future glory. With VP Robert Lozano ’89 finding our programs I look forward to many interesting Monday lunches in 2026. Mitchell Byrum ’17 will keep an eye on club finances as our ’26 club treasurer and Don Meyer ’78 will occupy the secretary spot on this
year’s board. With the collective skill of the other nine board members, day to day work of staff members Alisha Mohammed and Esha Chagani our club is set to continues the tradition of interesting Monday lunches and wonderful events throughout the coming year.
I have thoroughly enjoyed serving as the 2025 president and particularly enjoyed leading the Monday lunches each week. Thanks for being a part of the San Antonio Aggie family and I look forward to seeing you at Monday lunches and other club events.

Thanks so much for the warm welcome of me as this year’s President, from the support to the suggestions to enhance our Club and the experience for everyone that is fortunate enough to walk through our doors! I want to serve everyone in the best possible way, so keep the feedback coming!
The Board of Directors is gelling nicely with the help of our annual Bootcamp which we held in January (during the weekend of this year’s ice storm)! On Tuckman’s stages of group development, we went quickly through the forming and storming stages, and, for the most part we’re in the norming stage. We all have the common goal to make our Club the best that it can be and keep the Mission in the forefront of everything that we do.
The San Antonio A&M Club hit the ground running this year with events galore!
We held an Open House in late January to showcase our beautiful facility and to spur interest with members of the community that might be in need of a venue for their event. Our Staff also participated in the SA Bridal Extravaganza.
In early February we welcomed and fed 80+ members of the Parsons Mounted Cavalry including their staff and transportation crew at the end of the parade route after the Western Heritage parade. On the heels of that we held our Lifetime Members Luncheon where 17 members gained Lifetime Status. That is always a fun meeting!
I had the privilege of representing the SA A&M Club at The Association of Former Students Spring Leadership Conference on February 20th and 21st in College Station. Ideas were shared with Club Presidents and Representatives from around the state and country. We also got to hear from interim president, Tommy Williams about the state of Texas A&M University and a glimpse of its future. In this meeting we also learned that Porter S.
Garner III is retiring at the end of the year from his position as President and CEO of The Association of Former Students which he has held for 26 years!
We’ve had great speakers and attendance at our Monday Lunches. Our Vice President, Robert Lozano, has been working very hard to secure quality speakers that bring topics of interest to all, and he’s hit it out of the park so far.
The Club held its first major fundraiser of the year on March 25th – The Aggie Golf Classic at Olympia Hills. It was an awesome event with 144 golfers, great sponsors, volunteers, a great silent auction, an awesome breakfast and lunch, raffle prizes including a Turtlebox Ranger, door prizes, and a fun photo booth. A nice portion of our annual scholarship commitment was made at this fundraiser, so the bar is set high for the others. Thanks to all that participated, supported, and helped make this fundraiser the success that it was!
In addition to our regular Monday Lunches, we have several events coming up for all to enjoy in either a volunteer, sponsor, or participant capacity. We hope to see you on the Aggie Baseball Bus Trip for the Auburn game on May 2 and at Coach’s Night on Monday, May 18!

As we continue to leverage that the San Antonio A&M Club is the only club in the Aggie Network to own and operate its own facility, Aggie Park, we are uniquely positioned to deepen connection, expand engagement, and bring San Antonio Aggies together in meaningful ways. Whether through signature events such as Aggie Muster, Family BBQ, Coach’s Night, or Boot Scootin’ for Scholarships, or Monday lunch’s networking opportunities, our community continues to thrive because of engaged Aggies like you.
To build on that momentum, we are proud to introduce the 2026 Membership Committee of the San Antonio A&M Club:
Maya Gallegos ’20 Inspired by her own experience in the San Antonio Aggie community, Maya is passionate about creating welcoming pathways for Former Students and families of all ages to get involved and stay connected.
Richard Delgado Jr. ’19 A second-year San Antonio A&M Club Board Member and 2025 12 Under 12 Honoree, Richard helps ensure strong alignment between membership efforts and overall Club leadership.
Israel Escamilla ’11 A 2017 12 Under 12 Honoree and Representative at Large for the Texas A&M Association of Former Students Board, Israel brings a new perspective and is eager to help strengthen Aggie engagement in San Antonio.
Mike Torres ’91 – Committee Co-Chair Mike is a proud former member of the Corps of Cadets Fox Company F-2. He brings continuity and a strong commitment to the traditions and growth of the Club.
Mario A. Guel ’07 ’19 – Committee Chair A third-year San Antonio A&M Club Board Member, and former member of the Corps of Cadets Company P-2. Mario uses his robust Aggie Network to drive engagement between all organizations that call Aggie Park home.

EVERYONE LOVES A PARADE:
FEBRUARY 7, 2026
Everyone loves a Parade – especially when it involves our very own Parsons Mounted Cavalry!
On Saturday, February 7, the San Antonio A&M Club welcomed and fed approximately 80 members of the Parsons Mounted Cavalry (including their staff and transportation crew) after the PMC rode downtown on Houston Street and around Milam Park to Broadway. Some of our volunteers were even able to walk the parade route directly behind the PMC.
The Western Heritage Parade & Cattle Drive Committee produces the annual parade to kick-off the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo. The parade features a cattle drive, mounted infantry groups, authentic wagons, and heritage organizations that come together to participate in a display of the western heritage and local culture of San Antonio and Texas.
The Texas A&M Parsons Mounted Cavalry (PMC) is a regular participant in the annual Western Heritage Parade and Cattle Drive in San Antonio, appearing as a premier unit to kick off the San Antonio Stock Show
& Rodeo. The 70-member unit of students rode horses, and had mules pull a covered wagon, and even a couple pulling “the cannon” through downtown San Antonio, helping to showcase Texas history.
Thanks so much to our small, but mighty group of volunteers that had Bill Miller Bar-B-Q sack lunches with the fixings and drinks ready for them once they returned back to their trailers under the bridge staging area. The goal was to get them served quickly so they could make the trek back to College Station, and our volunteers did just that!
The students and crew were very appreciative of our hospitality and support! Thanks to all that donate to the “Feed the Band” fund as this is one of the events that your generous donations support.

CLASSIC: MARCH 25, 2026
On March 25, Bexar County Aggies took to the links at Olympia Hills Golf Course for a beautiful, sunny day of competition and camaraderie. The tournament sold out for the second consecutive year as former students and friends of Texas A&M gathered to compete for this coveted championship title.
The event was a tremendous success on many levels, most notably raising a record-breaking $40,000 to help fund scholarships for future Bexar County Aggies attending Texas A&M University in College Station.
This achievement would not have been possible without the dedication of our committed staff, who worked tirelessly in preparation for the event, as well as our Golf Committee and the many volunteers who assisted before, during, and after tournament day. As the saying goes, many hands lighten the load.

YOUNG AGGIES
OF SAN ANTONIO: QUARTER 1
2026 is already shaping up to be a fun and busy year for the Young Aggies of San Antonio, as we continue to bring the spirit of Texas A&M University to life here in town. We’ve been focused on building connections through a mix of social events and laid-back get-togethers.
So far this year, there’s been no shortage of ways to get involved. From two-stepping nights at Thirsty Horse Dance Hall to ladies’ game nights, guys hitting the golf course, there’s something for everyone. It’s all about giving Aggies a chance to meet new people, catch up with friends, and stay connected to the Aggie Network.
We’re also keeping things consistent with monthly events that are open to Ags of all ages. Run Club meets every third Monday, and Happy Hour is every third Thursday—easy, regular chances to show up and be part of the community.
Looking ahead, there’s even more to be excited about. We’re gearing up for our annual tubing trip in New Braunfels, which is always a highlight, along with plans for sand volleyball and a group outing to see The Devil Wears Prada 2.

APEC QUARTERLY UPDATE
AGGIE PARK ENDOWMENT (APE) SCHOLARSHIP ENDOWMENT (SE)

The SAAMCF Aggie Park Endowment Committee (APEC) met on Wednesday, February 4 to review endowment account activity during the 4th quarter of 2025. Balances for both endowment accounts as of the end of Q4 are provided above.
Endowment donations received during Q4 totaled $1,875 for the APE and $4,257 for the SE. Donations received YTD through Q4 for the APE equaled $2,575, and YTD donations received for the SE reached an impressive $29,662. Both endowments have performed well in 2025 earning a YTD rate of return of 11.45% for the APE and 10.76% for the SE.
The APE distribution policy allows for an annually calculated amount to be available for repairs, maintenance, and improvements (RMI) for Aggie Park. The RMI available in 2026 is $51,715. Currently, there is no distribution policy for the SE; however, in November the SAAMCF Board of Directors approved a goal to establish a distribution policy for the SE once the adjusted balance in the account reaches $1M. (The SE balance adjusted for contracted/ reserved scholarship stipends is approximately $754,523 making the gap between the current adjusted balance and the $1M target roughly $245,477.) Once in place, a distribution policy for the SE could support a variety of

options such as supplementing our annual scholarship fundraising efforts, providing funds for an increased number of scholarships, or allowing for an increase in the current scholarship stipend amount.
As I begin my service as APEC Chair, I’d like to express sincere appreciation to our 2025 donors for their commitment to building our endowments and ensuring the long-term viability and stability of both our Club facility, Aggie Park, and our Club Scholarship Program. I would also like to thank the members of our Investment Committee— Richard Kardys ’67, Scott McMillan ’89, and Bob Johnson ’90—for providing APEC with expert financial advice and guidance in managing our endowments. AGGIE MOMS’ CLUB
Howdy! The San Antonio Aggie Moms’ Group has had an exciting few months! In January, we hosted the Singing Cadets. The Singing Cadets are in their 123rd touring season, and the January 3rd concert was the kickoff to the Texas winter tour.
According to the Texas A&M Singing Cadets website: “The purpose of the Singing Cadets shall be to enhance the public relations of Texas A&M University through musical presentations as deemed appropriate by the Director and to develop disciplined leaders of character as defined by the Singing Cadet Handbook. The four pillars of the Singing Cadets are Purpose, Unity, Spirit, and Honor. Together, these four pillars have formed the solid foundation that has inspired and enabled our organization to succeed in carrying out its purpose for well over a century.”
This concert took place at the Alamo Heights United Methodist Church, a beautiful venue to complement the sound, and the two-hour performance—a thoughtfully chosen repertoire of Aggie traditional songs, hymns, and upbeat tunes to tap your feet to.
In February, at our general meeting, our speakers were Hope and Ryan Meriwether, Class of ‘21. Hope is a Marine Biologist working at Sea World and Ryan is a graduate with a Maritime Administration Degree and is a Second Mate. It was an honor to learn about their exciting roles and how their Texas A&M Galveston experience helped prepare them for these roles.
Our San Antonio Aggie Moms Boots n Bunco event was a phenomenal success, providing an entertaining experience for all involved. We appreciate the support of everyone who attended and contributed to this fundraising effort. Furthermore, we are grateful to Chicken n Pickle for their generous offer to host our event.

AGGIE WOMEN’S CLUB
Howdy, Aggies! Spring is in the air, and as nature blooms, it’s also time for the San Antonio Aggie Women’s Club to renew positions for some of our Board and Executive Committee Chairs. SAAWC seeks to fill our Membership, Fundraising Co-Chair, Treasurer and Historian seats for the 2026-2027 season. Maybe this is your time to step into a leadership role for the club you love! If you are interested in learning more about any of these positions, please contact Debbie Castro at 210-633-7992. We are also striving to grow our membership. If you would like to join our club or know a special lady who loves A&M, please contact Rita Richardson ‘84 at 210-663-4108 to sign up. San Antonio Aggie Women’s Club is unique in that its membership comprises women who love A&M for ANY reason whether it’s being an alumna, or a spouse, relative or friend of an Aggie.
In February, the club held a delightful lunch at Max & Louie’s New York Diner with speaker Daniel Mezza, founder of Pure Nitro Coffee. Club members also enjoyed making greeting cards together at our Crafts & Coffee event in February. Donations from our club of $250 each were made in the names of two members. Mary SegoviaSanchez ’83 chose the Aggie Catholic Organization for her recipient. A donation was made in the name of Sandra Salinas to the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets Company K-2. Our club is happy to give to these worthy causes. Weekly, SAAWC offers delicious slices of pie for donations at the A&M Club’s Monday Luncheons. In February and March, our Pie Angels raised more than $1,000 towards our scholarships, for contributions to organizations at A&M, and to local San Antonio groups that support families, women and children
card, or attended or bid on items. Additional kudos go to the 15 vendors who offered their unique items for sale. Fiesta-themed attired attendees at the March 28th event held at Aggie Park enjoyed sipping mimosas while shopping, a delicious 3-course lunch,
celebrating birthdays. We also want to thank Benjamin for his contributions of a beautiful San Antonio Fiesta painting and a signed and numbered Aggie Timeline 125th Anniversary collector’s print to our silent auction. With more than 200 in
competing to bid on 113 silent auction items, door prizes and eight opportunities to yell BINGO! Renowned Aggie artist Benjamin Knox ’90 sparkled as our charming bingo caller, telling us stories and even sketching two of our attendees who were
