The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee
Celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee
on 6th February, Her majesty the Queen became the first British monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee, with 70 years of service to the people of the united Kingdom, the realms and the commonwealth.

An array of events and activities took place throughout the year, culminating in a four-day UK bank holiday weekend, which span from Thursday 2nd to Sunday 5th June 2022.
The four days of celebrations included public events and community activities, as well as national moments of reflection on the Queen’s 70 years of service.
In addition, initiatives including The Queen’s Green Canopy and the Platinum Pudding competition will create a lasting reminder of the Queen’s Jubilee, while the Queen’s private estates joined in with special Jubileethemed events offering more opportunities for members of the public to celebrate the historic milestone.

Team mad Hatters’ Platinum Jubilee floral banner
A celebratory cake from previous years adorned with crowns, bunting and soldiers.
Mad Hatter Hilary, and some of her team who form the team Mad Hatters knitting group, joined in with other knitters and local groups in Buckingham to knit more than 800 red, white and blue flowers between them in response to a request from Buckingham resident Lionel Weston. The flowers were stitched onto a 10-metre banner spelling “God Save the Queen”, which were on display in Buckingham, outside the Old Gaol, over the Jubilee period.
