Site Management
This is a structurally sealed glazing system.
Our systems can incorporate a selection or combination of fixed glass panels, spandrel panels, various types of doors & different window types. The vertical mullions and horizontal transoms provide structural support members to transfer wind loads and gravity forces to the building structure.
Glass panes are separately inserted into the system.
No on-site glazing.
Acts as a pressure-equalising Allowssystem.water to drain through the Pre-machinedsystem. & assembled on-site as a stick system.
Every Curtain Wall design is done in conjunction with a registered Façade Engineer, and Engineer's certificates are issued on completion of all projects.
Glass is secured with visible vertical and horizontal pressure plates & covers.
Curtain Walls / Façades
We specialise in the following curtain wall systems: The CW60 System is a pressure-glazed stick-built system, while the CW90 System is a full flush-glazed stick-built system. On the other hand, the Unitised system consists of prefabricated panels that are hung onto the primary building structure. These panels interlock with adjacent panels and all panels and have gaskets that create permanent waterproofing joints. We can achieve almost any design by using this system.
(PRESSURE GLAZED)
Curtain Walls that create impressive and unforgettable high-performance building façades.
Mainly used for commercial facades with almost flush-fitted glazing.
CW60 SystemCurtainwall
Allows maximum light into buildings due to the 60mm sight-lines (internal only).
Mainly used for commercial facades to create a total glass wall effect.
Only slender shadow joints are visible externally.
The system is well suited for cases where there are large volumes of prefabricated unitised panels required.
OUR PRODUCTS

CW90 SystemCurtainwall (FLUSH GLAZED)
Glass is flush-glazed onto insert panels which are installed into the stick system.
Totally versatile to accommodate various types of infill panels. Allows maximum light into the Highbuildings.quality& tight tolerances are achieved in a climate-controlled factory Prefabricatedenvironment.panels are hoisted onto anchors connected to the building.
Variety of mullion and transom depths for versatility. Allows maximum light into buildings due to the 60mm sight-lines (internal & external).
Unitised Curtainwall System (FLUSH GLAZED)

Mainly used for commercial facades with visible aluminium lines.
Variety of mullion and transom depths for versatility.
All three systems can incorporate cost-effective thermal and sound insulation solutions, making them energy-efficient and eco-friendly, allowing designers to be proactive in moving with the current "green" environmental trends & demands.
The system can be installed in a third of the time of a stickbuilt system.
It is a practical solution when space around the structure is limited and scaffolding can't be erected.
Our attention to detail on each project ensures that the result is a customised, tailor-made package that compliments that specific design.
These systems allow designers the flexibility to create high-performance solutions in modern designs, but the emphasis is always on a maximum view (glass) and minimum obstruction (aluminium).
The glass in a shopfront system is secured using glazing beads. Different gaskets are used between

Frameless (Finns): This is achieved by construct ing various types of outer frames and silicone butt joints to laminated safety glass panes supported with vertical glass fins. Depending on the glazing areas, it could also be achieved with butt-jointed, toughened safety glass panes without vertical glass fins.

The face of the verticals (mullions) usually is 30mm, and the depths vary from 75mm to 150mm+, depend ing on the strength and deflection requirements. The glazing rebates are typically about 45mm set back from the mullion face. A shopfront is a "stick system" with mechanical square joints between the mullions and the transoms (horizontals).
Our focus is to

Frameless (Spider Fittings): In this application, there should be a solid sub-structure (steel) behind the glass facade to fix the "Spider Fittings". All glass in this instance will be toughened safety glass, as the requirement will be for holes drilled into all glass panes to enable the fixing of "Spider Fittings".
In South Africa, a shopfront system consists of rectangular aluminium box sections with one or two glazing rebates.

Other types of shopfronts are as follows:
Shopfronts
These doors are mainly designed as top-hung panels that fold individually and stack to the sides in either parallel or a 90-degree position. The door panels can also be framed or frameless. This system requires a proper sub-structure to the top to be fixed, as the tracks are bulky and more robust. These doors are commonly found in bigger tenant shops in malls. These doors are not designed for external conditions as they are not weatherproof.
Sliding Doors
The "Vistafold System", which consists of framed door panels that are hinged together and fold (concertina-like outwards) to the sides. This weatherproof system has a threshold detail at the bottom and a full-frame around it. Door leaves are all bottom-rolling with top guides.
These doors are specially manufactured to give the customer the maximum opening space in a specific area as the door leaves fold away to the sides and provide that feeling of bringing the outdoors into the room.
In this application, we specialise in two types of systems:
Sliding-Folding Doors
We can manufacture various types of doors to specific customer requirements:
We specialise in mainly the "Sheerline Palace System" as it is a much more rigid door than the standard domestic sliding door systems. These are manually operated bottom rolling sliding panels and are suitable for applications such as shopping malls, upmarket residential developments, office blocks, and other commercial developments. These doors provide safe and secure options to enable the customer to obtain the most practical solution in each area.
Pivot doors operate without hinges and swing on top and bottom pivot mechanisms. This enables the customer to design more specific types of openings. Pivot doors are also very popular as entrance doors to buildings fitted with floor springs or door closers.

The "Frameless System", which consists of tough ened glass panels which are hinged together on the top & bottom rails and fold (concertina-like) to the sides. This system is not totally weatherproof and is more suitable for internal use as the door panels are fitted with acrylic seals to obtain weather tightness.

Automated Doors
Hinged Doors & Pivot Doors

Designed to suit entrances to buildings such as shopping malls, office buildings, airports and hotels, for instance. These doors are fully automated and operate through sensors or remote controls. The door leaves could either be framed or frameless with top and bottom rails. The system is designed to run on top-hung wheels that are connected to the door leaves.
Doors
Sliding/Stacking Doors
Hinged doors are mainly designed to operate as lockable framed or frameless doors in either single or double door leaf format.
Our curtain walls have a unique range of custom-made windows for each system. These windows are specifically designed to perform according to the different wind loads on each design, as required.

We use the "Sheerline VERT 70" system in this application. These windows are only available in standard sizes due to the "spring balance" operation that enables the sashes to slide up and down.
Horizontal Pivots & Vertical Pivots
Top-Hung Windows
This option provides the customer with the largest possible opening section that could be used as serving space or ventilation. These windows are designed with the "Vistafold" system and fold to the sides of the opening in a concertina-type manner. All panels project outward to provide a weatherproof product in its closed position. All panels are framed and hinged together. Sliding/Folding windows could also be designed as a frameless system with top & bottom rails hinged together, but they won't be totally
These windows are fitted with one window handle to the centre of the sash, either on the left or right side. They also open outwards using friction stays. Side-Hung windows have size limitations, depending on the system used in each case.
We offer the following options:
Windows
These windows are designed to open outwards using friction stays. There's usually one window handle fitted to the bottom centre of the sash for easy operation. Different designs can be entertained to provide maximum ventilation to any specific area. However, there are limitations to the sash sizes, depending on the sections being used.
Side-Hung Windows
Bergh Co. obtains only the best quality aluminium extrusions from "Sheerline" to manufacture our different types of windows. Although a wide selection of aluminium window profiles is currently available in South Africa, we've selected a few that are versatile enough to meet our target market's different types of glazing criteria.

Sliding/Folding Windows
Although various types of systems could be used for these items, P and D Fenestration has decided to use the more rigid "Sheerline 1000" system in all our designs. From a security and durability aspect, this is the best system for the job and also the most versatile when it comes to different types of glazing. Horizontal sliding windows provide the customer with basically any size of opening without a sash projecting outwards, especially where human traffic is passing close by. This is also a bottom-rolling system.
These windows are more often used in circumstances where they don't need to be opened frequently. They are more designed to provide cleaning access to the outside of the windows/building as they have a "Doric Lock" and not a window handle. These windows are normally used in proper air-conditioned environments where the need for
