Our Sixth Formers are important and influential role models to all pupils throughout our College. We require, therefore, high standards of personal presentation, which align with their seniority and leadership in our College community.
All Abbey Gate College Sixth Form students wear smart, formal clothes that would be appropriate within a professional business environment.
Abbey Gate College Sixth Form Dress Code
All Sixth Formers must abide by the following dress code:
• Formal suit (jacket & full-length trousers) or smartly co-ordinated jacket & full-length trousers. Please note that fabrics must be plain, and colours must be dark or appropriately professional/formal.
• Collared shirt or blouse. This may be plain or with thin stripes, and must be white or a formal, pale colour.
• Tie, if a collared shirt is worn, which must be professional/formal in colour and pattern.
• V/crew neck plain sweater or cardigan or waistcoat, professional/formal in colour/pattern/design.
• Formal, flat-heeled shoes, which must be dark and polishable.
For clarity, the following are not permitted:
• Corded, denim, or leather fabrics
• Leggings, jeggings, jersey-fabric trousers, or similar
• Culottes or cropped trousers
• Skirts or dresses
• Hooded tops or sweatshirts
• Vest tops/t-shirts
• Insufficiently formal attire (eg. low necklines, revealing midriff, over-sized fit)
• Stiletto heels, heavy boots, canvas shoes/pumps or trainers
General Information:
• Sixth Form students must wear a College lanyard at all times (for safeguarding reasons).
• Jackets are worn at all times when moving around the College site.
• No coats are worn in lessons or in the Refectory.
• Extravagant hair colours and styles, out of keeping with formal/professional presentation, are not allowed.
• Subtle jewellery is allowed, in keeping with formal/professional presentation. Stretchers are not permitted.
