The Imperial Court for the Daughters of Isis held its National Testimonial Weekend, April 10-13, for the 44th Imperial Commandress, Daughter Sadie Pierre Mitchell and Imperial B. Mitchell, for whom Daughters from around the Potentate Homer L. Buchanan globe traveled to the Nation’s Capital to pay tribute. The event was held at the Hyatt Regency, Arlington. Imperial Commandress Imperial Commandress Mitchell with Imperial Mitchell has the responsibility of serving a membership of over 9,500 Daughters Deputy for the Desert, PC Tammy Lum in over 200 Courts in the United (No.54); Imperial Deputy for the Oasis, PC States, Canada, Bahamas, US Gina McCloud (No. 211) and Imperial Deputy Illustrious Commandress Virgin Islands, Far East, Asia, for the Oasis, PC Bernadette Winston (No.54) E. Milla Jordan Korea and Western Europe. The weekend began with reception and dinner hosted by the Honorable Daughters Shari L. McCoy and Kelli J. McCoyJohn T. Doles Sr., Burkett of Mecca Court #2, Washington, D.C. Most Worshipful Grand Master of the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of the District of Columbia and Grand Worthy Matron Imperial Commandress Mitchell presenting checks to her charities: The Rev Barbara E. Murray, Georgiana Thomas Grand Chapter, OES, PHA. Daughter Joseph A. Gilmore Jr., pastor of Mt. Ephraim Baptist Church; Lori Williams, Margaret E. The Imperial Officers also visited the Howard University Moorland Howard University Cancer Center; Imperial Commandress Mitchell, Shirley Anderson Spingarn Library where a ceremony was held to deposit Daughters Emmanuel, Iona Whipper Home, Maria Nelly, Special Olympics; Benjamin of Isis memorabilia and artifacts. On Friday night, a Western Party was held Phillips IV, AFRO president where Daughters and Shiners fellowshipped and danced. At the culminating event, the Testimonial banquet, Imperial Grand Commandress Daughter Master Sadie B. The Montgomery County Delta Alumnae Foundation in collaboration with the Montgomery County Alumnae Chapter (MCAC) of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, “Jazzmatazz”, May 2, at Martins Crosswinds, Greenbelt, Md. Guests were welcomed by LaTonyia Wade, president MCAC Delta Sigma Theta Sorority; Lynne Miller Rowe, chair, Montgomery County Delta Alumnae Foundation and Brenda Wolff, chair, MCAC fundraiser. The Jonathan Davis Project featuring Brian Lenair, saxophonist, entertained the guests with their smooth sounds of music throughout the night. Montgomery County Executive, Ike Leggett and Catherine Leggett, first lady of Montgomery County, were in attendance. Proceeds from this popular event will benefit public service and scholarship programs.
