The Fund for Educational Excellence sponsored the second annual, “Heart of the Schools,” awards on May 22, to honor Baltimore City Public School principals. The event took place at the Hippodrome Theater in downtown Baltimore. Ten BCPS principals received awards out of 587 nominations. Roger Schulman is the president

The Baltimore County Chapter of The Pierians, Inc., held an afternoon event on June 17 at Coppin State University’s Science and Technology Center to highlight the work of talented young artists in the areas of literature, music, drama and visual arts. The chapter awarded two scholarships to Sade Marable, vocal artist, and Reigna Wren, visual artist, who are 2017 graduates of the George Washington Carver Center for Arts and Technology, in Towson. The focus of the Pierians is to bring together people interested in the promotion of the arts and to encourage further study of the arts by awarding scholarships to students of music, visual art, theatre and dance.
