A new science building for the study of the natural sciences, mathematics and nursing opened on the Bowie State University campus on June 9. The National Pan-Hellenic Council(NPHC) of Northern Virginia held its annual Black Scholars Awards on May 21 at the Gar-Field High School in Woodbridge, Va. Family members and educators gathered to salute graduating high school students for their academic achievements. Norman Jones, III, graduating senior from Stonewall Jackson High School, was the keynote speaker. Several students were awarded academic scholarships.
