Urania: threshold to a new urban condition or pre-modern nostalgia?
Unquestionably the western culture's subject feels the need to escape to something different: different conditions, civilizations, other eras, as a break from the everyday life. Tourist landscapes, vacation lands as well as the feeling one has returning home, stand as a cause for this project. On his way back to reality, man feels a distinct nostalgia -not only regarding the memories that simmer in his mind but mostly because of the all-encompassing feeling of something being constantly absent.
The intention of this project is to become a threshold towards a new model of living. A threshold as a wishing passage to something different; material scenes, representative etc., opening new areas of action, thought and possibilities, questioning upon and rearranging the social reality.
The water, the repeated stairways, the various geographical levels, and the consecutive ascents and descents, function as a gate towards the sacred world.
