LETTER FROM OUR CO-CEOs
It is with heartfelt gratitude that we say thank you. We are a start-up organization that cares deeply about the relationships we build. Through your support, our vision to drive resources & power to African social changemakers has become a reality.
This year was our most fast-paced year to date as we sprung into our second full year of operations. Like many organizations, we faced complex challenges while adapting to the new normal. Building our team remotely and across different locations raised important questions: How can we sustainably scale up our work? What are the lessons we are learning and how do they shape our vision for the future? We are embracing our growth journey and know we will continue to uncover answers to these questions for years to come.
Amidst these challenges, we are humbled and excited to celebrate our big wins:
We launched our open application system and received over 800 applications for our third grantmaking round. From this incredible applicant pool, we welcomed 10 new organizations into our portfolio. Just imagine the impact we could unlock if every one of these organizations received the resources they deserve!
As the world opened up on the heels of COVID-19, we had the opportunity to connect with our partners and funders at various events! We visited seven of our partners in Uganda and Kenya.
We welcomed four new board members, four team members, and we grew our funding base to 16 active funding partners.
Our successful year is a reflection of the trust we’ve built with our partners, team, and funders. We deeply appreciate the trust our partners place in us and the remarkable work they do. Appreciation for our team and board for their commitment to our mission and the hard work to make it happen. And finally, appreciation for our funders for believing in our work and providing flexible, trust-based support which allows us the freedom to dream.
