True Leadership Can’t Be Bought “We need leaders not in love with money but in love with justice. Not in love with publicity but in love with humanity” - Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. uring the era I was brought up in, leadership meant something. Back then, mostly everybody in the community respected the leaders in the Black community. Although there was much respect for them, being in a leadership position was not a role most Black folks wanted to aspire to. We all knew strong Black leadership was needed to overcome the many challenges we faced, however, it was not an easy role. Standing at the front of the line, was sure to make you a target and we were already born with a target on us, as it was (Blackness). So, NO! Not many people were willing to selflessly give of themselves, knowing the grave consequences for doing so. Being a leader during the days of slavery and oppression was a hell of a task; the same is true for leaders who led in the Jim Crow dispensation and as we moved into a segregated era, the trend continued. Thus, any person regardless of gender who stood up at the defense of equality for Blacks HAD to be one whose only mission was, “justice” and one who had a genuine love for “humanity”. But things have changed. As a result of the price that was paid by many of our leaders of old, many things have improved for,

we Africans living in America. Consequently, many of the old leaders and martyrs of yesterday, such as Dr. King are elevated on a pedestal during our present-day. However, when they walked the land amongst us, that was not the position they were in. Even in our own community, there were those who didn’t respect their vision or fully support them in the endeavors they pursued, which was to further the Black community and secure equal rights and justice for us. But, outside of the Black community, our leaders were scorned, beaten, imprisoned, falsely accused, disrespected and ridiculed, among many other things. Nevertheless, they stayed the course and paid the ultimate price - some laying down their lives’. But, today what we have in the form of leadership are those who have come up thinking that leadership entitles them glamour, money, a lavish lifestyle and status. That is not the case. There is a big difference between the type of leadership Dr. King spoke about and demonstrated and what we have today. In fact, in many instances a lot of today’s leaders wouldn’t be leaders at all - if they were not getting paid to do so. You see, in true leadership the first investment and many more thereafter come from the leader. When a person is an authentic leader, no amount of money in the world will ever satisfy them for the work they do, because you can’t put a price tag on someone who has a love for “humanity” and a mission to achieve “justice”. Concluding, in this Special “MLK” Edition, I would like to urge our Black leaders to examine your mission and objective and make sure you are not working for the people for a cost. Because true leadership can’t be bought or paid for. - AANI

Selection at the Election
T
he challenges Americans will face in the 2020 presidential election will require that, “We the People” be together on our “Selection at the Election”. Our current POTUS has made so many negative governmental resolutions which have divided and damaged America. Subsequently, even as I’m writing this article, the government is still in a partial shutdown, which has resulted in many government workers going through a time of trouble. It’s a true fact that the majority of Americans, by far, don’t want to see our American government shut down. In an earlier meeting with Democrats, Nancy Pelosi and Senator Chuck Schumer, prior to the shutdown, Trump told them and the world that he would take the blame for shutting down the government. This is one of many incidents that point to the need for new leadership, therefore, our selection at the 2020 election must be based on what we have witnessed on a regular basis from this POTUS. With the Democrats now controlling the U.S. Congress, the possibility of impeaching Trump has become a real plan that might actually happen. If this process doesn’t occur, we as citizens have to make the right Selection at the 2020 Election. As bad as it sounds, sometimes it takes devastation, destructive, interference, as well as devious behavior and malicious activities from our American leader to motivate the voters. Americans of “good will” with their vote can defeat a “bunch
of lies” told by Trump to his followers at his political rallies. Shutting down our government, the threats of doing so many other dangerous events are part of Trump’s “Plantation Mentality”. Remember how former plantation owners embraced a “build a wall” mentality for the sole purpose of making the most money while taking advantage of their workers. Even though Trump has put America in over $2 trillion dollars of debt, it doesn’t seem to matter to him or the people who think as he does. It appears the real goal is to put Black people, Brown people, poor White people and immigrants in a place dedicated for them, which is at the bottom of our society. Even many of his staunchest supporters stand in awe or maybe even fear because they don’t know what crazy thing he will do next. While this government is shut down, we will need to take a closer look at this president. Whether you are a Democrat, a Republican or an Independent, you can clearly see through “Trump the Imposter” who always fraudulently and corruptly pretends to be someone he isn’t. When the new freshman U.S. Congress Woman, Tlaib, a Democrat recently used a curse word at a meeting where she was talking about impeaching Trump, he criticized her for using cuss words while he has repeatedly been cussing out men, women and immigrants in front of the world during the past two years and even before he became president. I will end this article by saying, “If Trump was going to lose money by shutting down the government, it would never close!” If we can’t impeach this president, then the “Selection At the Election” in 2020 should be for the Democrat who is running against Trump. DIFFERENT STRUGGLE, SAME FIGHT
By Rebecca S. Jones HOUSTON - “Five score years ago, a great American, in whose symbolic shadow we stand today, signed the Emancipation Proclamation. This momentous decree came as a great beacon light of hope to millions of Negro slaves who had been seared in the flames of withering injustice. It came as a joyous daybreak to end the long night of their captivity. But, one hundred years later, the Negro still is not free. One hundred years later, the life of the Negro is still sadly crippled by the manacles of segregation and the chains of discrimination. One hundred years later, the Negro lives on a lonely island of poverty in the midst of a vast ocean of material prosperity. One hundred years later, the Negro is still languished in the corners of American society and finds himself in exile in his
own land.” On August 28, 1963, the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. stood on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. with over 250,000 people gathered around and delivered one of the most prophetic and powerful speeches ever known. Throughout, the prolific “I Have a Dream” speech, Dr. King made several references to the state of the “Negro” prior to the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation. He continued by sharing the trials that the “Negro” was confronted with during the Civil Rights era, that he and other leaders were combatting and trying to overcome. And here we are, over fifty years after his delivery and the “Negro” is STILL in the SAME FIGHT, with a DIFFERENT STRUGGLE. American history has shown

that every few decades a new “noose” is tied around the neck of African-Americans living in this country. It has become a legalized redundant cycle, which has taken the lives of countless Blacks throughout the years. Scores of families have been torn asunder and left without “Heads of Households” for ages in the Black community. Perhaps, the scene would be more understandable if these invidious actions were warranted or deserving by the victims. But, unfortunately, the only crime committed in many instances was - Being Born Black in America. End of Story.
Equal Rights/Equal Life
During the Civil Rights movement, Blacks were protesting and marching for equal rights and voting rights. As a result, of their volition and sacrifices Blacks were able to secure equal rights in some ways. Legislation
Incidents such as the one Tony Colquitt, a resident of Acres Homes encountered recently by detesting the slaughter of innocent Black people at the hands of police officials are only a small drop in a large bucket. Colquitt has chosen to support the #BlackLivesMatter movement, by displaying the words on the back of his car. While at a local WalMart he returned to his vehicle to find a cotton plant attached under his car’s wiper blade with a card with the inscription, “All Lives Matter”. It is no secret that ALL LIVES MATTER! But, All LIVES are not being slain in the name of “protecting and serving”. It is scenes such as this, which has caused an uproar within the African-American community. No other race is being targeted and assassinated for the color of their skin like Black people. Therefore, our hype is a different kind of hype, because our situation has repeatedly proven fatal.
manifested from the actions of Dr. King and others. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the 1965 Voting Rights Act were passed and most of these rights were enacted into law. Yet, complete justice and equality was never truly obtained. In 2019, African-Americans are in a different struggle. While, Dr. King marched for Equal Rights, Blacks today are protesting for Equal Life. It was one thing to protest the right to be treated as a human being. But, African-Americans are simply trying to live from one day to the next without encountering a police official who may have woke up on the wrong side of the bed. The fight is crucial and the struggle is definitely real. Thus, “The Dream Continues.”

Considering the challenges and hurdles which still remain
for African-Americans, I am reminded of the words of Pastor F.N. Williams, II, “Though we have come far, we haven’t come far enough.” The blatant disregard of Black Lives in America has been expressed from the highest seat in the land and continues to trickle down through local forms of government. This is only one factor which should serve to let African-Americans know, “The Dream Continues”. We have not fully arrived. Hence, it is not the time to back away from speaking out against the grave injustices imposed on the Black community; instead, it is time to get even louder and scream that not only do we deserve EQUAL RIGHTS, but EQUAL LIFE. Secured Party is not now, nor has Secured Party ever been, an accommodation party, nor a surety, for any of the purported debtors, i.e. “DELWIN DARNELL CAMPBELL,” and “JEREMIAH DARNELL CAMPBELL” and “JEREMIAH DARNELL CAMPBELL,” nor for any derivative of, nor for any variation in the spelling of, any of said names, nor for any other juristic person, and is so-indemnified and held harmless by DELWIN DARNELL CAMPBELL©, Debtor in Hold-harmless and Indemnity Agreement no JHD-09201988-HHIA dated the Twenty Fifth Day of the Tenth Month in the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Nine against any and all claims, legal actions, orders, warrants, judgments, demands, liabilities, losses, depositions, summonses, lawsuits, costs, fines, liens, levies, penalties, damages, interests, and expenses whatsoever, both absolute and contingent, as are due and as might become due, now existing and as might hereafter arise, and as might be suffered by, imposed on, and incurred by Debtor DELWIN DARNELL CAMPBELL© for any and every reason, purpose, and cause whatsoever. Self-executing Contract/Security Agreement in event of Unauthorized Use: By this Copyright Notice, both the juristic person and the agent of said juristic person, hereinafter jointly and severally “User,” consent and agree that any use of any of DELWIN DARNELL CAMPBELL© and JEREMIAH DARNELL CAMPBELL©, other than authorized use as set forth above constitutes unauthorized use, counterfeiting, of Secured Party’s Agreement wherein User is debtor and Delwin Darnel Campbell is Secured Party, and signifies that User; (1) grants interest in assets, land, and personal property, in the sum certain amount of $500,000.00 per each occurrence of use of any of the common-law-copyrighted trade-names/trade-marks DELWIN DARNELL CAMPBELL© and JEREMIAH DARNELL CAMPBELL©, as well as for each and every occurrence of use of any and all derivatives of, and variations in the spelling of, respectively, DELWIN DARNELL CAMPBELL© and JEREMIAH DARNELL CAMPBELL©, not excluding “Delwin Darnell Campbell,” and “Jeremiah Darnell Campbell,” respectively, plus costs, plus triple damages; (2) authenticates this Security Agreement wherein User is debtor and Delwin Darnell Campbell© is Secured Party, and wherein User pledges all of User’s property, i.e. all commercial tort claims, letters of credit, letter-of-credit rights, chattel paper, instruments, deposit accounts, accounts, documents, and general intangibles, and all User’s interest in all such foregoing property, now owned and hereafter acquired, now existing and hereafter arising, and whatever located, as collateral for securing User’s contractual obligation in favor of Secured Party for User’s unauthorized use of Secured Party’s common-law copyrighted property; (3) consent and agrees with Secured Party’s filing of a UCC Financial Statement in the UCC filing office, as well as in any county recorder’s office, wherein User is debtor and Delwin Darnell Campbell© is Secured Party; (4) consents and agrees that said UCC Financing Statement described above in paragraph “(3)” is continuing financing statement, and further consents and agrees with Secured Party’s filing of any continuation statement necessary for maintaining Secured Party’s perfected security interest in all of User’s property and interest property, pledged as collateral in this Security Agreement and described above in paragraph “(2),” until User’s contractual obligation theretofore incurred has been fully satisfied; (5) consents and agrees with Secured Party’s filing of any UCC Financing Statement, as described above in paragraph “(3)” and “(4),” as well as the filling of any Security Agreement, as described above in paragraph “(2),” in the UCC filing office, as well as in any county recorder’s office; (6) consents and agrees that any and all such filings described in paragraphs “(4)” and “(5)” above are not, and may not be considered, bogus, and that User will not claim that any such filing is bogus; (7) waives all defenses; and (8) appoints Secured Party as Authorized Representative for User, effective upon User’s default re User’s contractual obligations in favor of Secured Party as set forth below under “Payment Terms” and “Default Terms,” granting Secured Party full authorization and power for engaging in any and all actions on behalf of User including, but not limited by, authentication of a record on behalf of User, as Secured Party, in Secured Party’s sole discretion, deems appropriate, and User further consents and agrees that this appointment of Secured Party as Authorized Representative for User, effective upon User’s default, is irrevocable and coupled with a security interest. User further consents and agrees with all of the following additional terms of Self-executing Contract/Security Agreement in Event of Unauthorized Use: Payment Terms: In accordance with fees for unauthorized use of an of DELWIN DARNELL CAMPBELL©, and JEREMIAH DARNELL CAMPBELL© as set forth above, User hereby consents and agrees that User shall pay Secured Party all unauthorized-use fees in full within ten (10) days of the date User is sent Secured Party’s invoice, hereinafter “Invoice,” itemizing said fees. Default Terms: In event of non-payment in full of all unauthorized-use fees by User within ten (10) days of date Invoice is sent, User shall be deemed in default and: (a) all of User’s property and interest in property pledged as collateral by User, as described above in paragraph “(2)” immediately becomes, i.e. is, property of Secured Party; (b) Secured Party is appointed User’s Authorized Representative as set forth above in paragraph “(8)”; and (c) User consents and agrees that Secured Party may take possession of, as well as otherwise disposes of in any manner that Secured Party, in Secured Party’s sole discretion, deems appropriate, including, but not limited by, sale at auction, at any time following User’s default, and without further notice, including, but not limited by, sale at auction, at any time following User’s default, and without further notice, any and all User’s former property and interest in property, as described above in paragraph “(2),” formerly pledged as collateral by User, now property of Secured Party, in respect of this “Self-existing Contract/Security Agreement in Event of Unauthorized Use,” that Secured Party, again in Secured Party’s sole discretion, deems appropriate. Terms for Curing Default: Upon event of default, as set forth above under “Default Terms,” irrespective of any and all of User’s former property and interest in property, in the possession of, as well as disposed of by, Secured Party, as authorized above under “Default Terms,” User may cure User’s default re only the remainder of User’s former property and interest in property formerly pledge as collateral that is neither in the possession of, nor otherwise disposed of by, Secured Party within twenty (20) days of date of User’s default only by payment in full. Terms of Strict Foreclosure: User’s non-payment in full of all unauthorized-use fees itemized in Invoice within said twenty- (20) day period for curing default as set forth above under “Terms for Curing Default” authorized Secured Party’s immediate non-judicial strict foreclosure on any and all remaining property and interest I property formerly pledged as collateral by User, now property of Secured party, which is not in the possession of, nor otherwise disposed of by, Secured Party upon expiration of said twenty – (20) day default-curing period.
